President-elect Donald Trump made sure to keep Kanye West away from his inauguration performance stage. New reports claim the near-head of state intentionally fell back from having Yeezus steal the spotlight.

According to Presidential Inauguration Committee Tom Barrack, Yeezy didn’t fit into their billing.

“We haven’t asked him,” he told CNN’s Erin Burnett on “OutFront.” “He considers himself a friend of the President-elect, but it’s not the venue. The venue we have for entertainment is filled out, it’s perfect, it’s going to be typically and traditionally American, and Kanye is a great guy but we just haven’t asked him to perform. We move on with our agenda.” (CNN)

Recent reports surfaced about Yeezy not receiving an invitation to the prestigious event.

Kanye West will not travel to Washington, D.C. for Donald Trump‘s presidential inauguration this Friday, a source close to the rapper confirms to PEOPLE. The insider adds that “Trump’s people never even asked” West to perform. The chairman of Trump’s presidential inaugural committee also previously told CNN that while “Donald is a great admirer of Kanye,” West would not be performing. (People)

Back in December, hip-hop veteran Gucci Mane shared his reaction to Yeezy having a secret meeting with Trump.

“I just feel like with Kanye, he don’t need my approval or nobody else’s. so my opinion really ain’t going to matter. Everybody got an opinion—good or bad. Kanye don’t need nobody approval to live his life. If you don’t agree, then that’s cool you don’t agree. But that’s not going to stop him from doing what he do. He’s going to do whatever he’s going to do because that’s him.” (Complex)

A few days prior, R&B singer John Legend took aim at his G.O.O.D. Music boss for meeting with Donald Trump.

“I don’t think it’s impossible to talk to him about issues, but I won’t be used as a publicity stunt. I think Kanye was a publicity stunt. I’m pretty disappointed with Kanye that he says he would have voted for Trump. I think Trump has been corrosive, his message has been corrosive to the country and I think the things he’s promised to do have been very concerning for a lot of people and for Kanye to support that message is very disappointing.” (“Clique”)
