DMX Rep Denies “Celebrity Rehab” Claims, “These Reports Are False”

A publicist for incarcerated rapper Earl “DMX” Simmons has denied reports claiming the emcee has signed on to “Celebrity Rehab” after being released from jail later this year.

Publicist Pam Pinnock has released a statement clearing up X’s alleged participation in the popular show’s third season.

“Several media outlets have reported that my client Earl Simmons, aka DMX has signed on to appear in VH1’s ‘Celebrity Rehab Reality Show,'” a statement reads. “These reports are false and Mr. Simmons has not greed to appear in any reality show. Mr. Simmons is currently serving a 90 day jail sentence at Tent City Jail in Arizona . He has expressed great appreciation to the overwhelming amount of support he has received from his fans during this difficult time. He would like his fans to know that he is taking this time to focus on his personal as well as spiritual growth, and is looking forward to being released soon.” (Hip Hop Press)

Reports of X joining the upcoming cast hit the net last Friday (April 24).

The 38 year-old hardcore rapper will join the cast of the VH1’s “Celebrity Rehab” show for its upcoming third season. The show’s resident drug counselor, Bob Forrest has told RadarOnline.com exclusively. DMX is the first celebrity named in the new cast. (Radar Online)

Additional celebrities are rumored to star on the show including pop singer Aaron Carter.

Carter is allegedly the latest star planning to check into the next edition of VH1’s “Celebrity Rehab.” He is said to be joining former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss and rocker Sebastian Bach, the former front-man for the ’80s heavy metal band, Skid Row. Carter was busted last February during a traffic stop in Texas when cops found two ounces of pot in the car he was driving. (New York Post)

X is currently serving a 90-day sentence in Arizona on drug charges.

Commissioner Phemonia Miller sentenced the rapper last January, whose name is Earl Simmons to 90 days in jail with no credit for time he has already served. Miller said, “I’m not sentencing DMX today, I’m sentencing Earl Simmons. I don’t know DMX. Mr. Simmons, it’s time to do something different. What you have been doing is not working.” (AZCentral)

The rapper is reportedly scheduled to leave jail next month.
