“DMX Is The Realest Person I’ve Ever Met In My Life”

Bad Boy Records’ Machine Gun Kelly recently opened up about sharing studio time alongside rap veteran DMX and how much he took away from their session together.

Along with X, MGK also talked about Drake recently having him come out to perform his “Wild Boy” record in Cleveland.

“Yeah, DMX is the realest person I’ve ever met in my life. He’s exactly what he says he is,” MGK said about his in-studio experience with X. “Yeah, he actually came in when I was on top of a table rapping one of his songs, so it was like an awkwardly good moment. [What does Drake mean to hip-hop?] It’s f*king cool. It’s tight. You know, I learned from that. I learn from him when he speaks how he does, when he acts how he does towards other artists. It definitely makes me mature as a young artist, it makes me be like, “Okay, maybe shunning people is not the route.” Not that I do that, per se, but I definitely do have a lot of competitiveness in my blood, where I’ll be like, “Sh*t, muthaf*cker, I want that number one spot.” But when you see Drake who has the number one spot so willingly give it all, it’s cool.” (RESPECT)

Prior to hooking up with DMX, Kelly explained his admiration for the Yonkers, New York rapper in September.

“I don’t really have any cosigns at all. No one’s really wanted to make friends with me in the rap game. I’ve been around muthaf*ckas for a while, and I’ve never really been the one that people have reached out to. I don’t view it as I’m not wanted. I view it as I’m a f*ckin’ problem. So I pretty much just made a warning shot to everybody. Like, Yo, I’m not here to be friends…And I made a bunch of artist references throughout the whole song. I said, ‘I’m Pitbull, that ‘X’ sh*t/That ‘goin in at they neck’ sh*t — DMX is my favorite rapper, so I compared myself to DMX. He was unpredictable. He was exactly who he said he was. He let the world see him for him. And he wasn’t a nice muthaf*cka. And he had a million dollar voice.” (XXL Mag)

Around mid-November, Drake surprised Cleveland fans by bringing out their hometown hero.

Drake’s “Club Paradise” tour pulled into Cleveland State University last night (November 12) with a special guest. October’s Very Own showed love to C-town by bringing out hometown hero Machine Gun Kelly to perform his single “Wild Boy,” raging on stage as Drake did “Headlines.” “Ya’ll make noise some for Machine Gun Kelly one time,” said Drizzy. Over the summer, MGK hit up SOHH to discuss inking a deal with Bad Boy.

“The way it all started was before Bad Boy/Interscope, it was a major label bidding war. At the end of the day, surprisingly to what people may think, [Diddy] was the one person who said, “I don’t want to touch or change your movement. I just want to get that machine.” Bad Boy recently inked with Interscope and he brought me to Jimmy Iovine one night in the hotel room on a fluke though. He was like, “I gotta go run an errand.” I think this was either my first or second time meeting Puff and I was like, “OK, this is kind of random. It’s 2 AM in the morning. Who has to run an errand at 2 AM?” (SOHH Guest Star)
