With DMX finally roaming the streets as a free man again, SOHH hit up hip-hop veteran DMC to get his take on the troubled rapper's return and his battles with the law.

Having previously battled his own addictions, DMC believes X should always be respected for his music contributions and keeping true to himself.

“There’s no such thing as f*cking stars,” DMC told SOHH when asked his opinion on DMX’s publicized legal woes. “When you look up into the sky, you don’t see one star. DMX, David Beckham, Michael Jordan, none of us motherf*ckers is more important than anybody else on the face of the Earth. DMX, keep your head up because you’re human and we all make mistakes. DMX is better than 98 percent of everybody out right now. If we’re talking about records, ain’t nobody had two number one’s in the same year. As problematic as DMX is, nobody made street [relevant] records with the passion and purpose and understanding that his crazy a** did.” (SOHH)

The iconic lyricist also cited X as one of the realest people in the entertainment industry.

“He’s the only dude from that era of bling-bling that when that kid came up to the stage, there was no back-up dancers, no costumes, no marketing, no stylists, no Auto-tune. That man by himself will walk up by himself in the midst of Jay-Z, Ja Rule and all these dudes, take [off] his shirt, say the only people that love him are his dogs, say a prayer for his grandmother and rock the house,” added DMC. “He’s real hip-hop because he’s not ashamed of himself. He ain’t making no excuses. He’s no different from anybody else. The problem with these celebrities is they may go into hiding for three months and then they come out not acting like anything happened. That’s false representation of what we’re living. So I look at DMX, keep your head up. We all got problems and most of the people in this business got more problems than him but are scared to ‘fess up to them. So we’re praying for DMX, he’s the realest cat in this business. He’s got problems like we all do.” (SOHH)

X became a free man after serving time behind bars stemming from a probation violation.

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before. DMX, the rapper-actor/jail magnet, was released from a Yuma, Ariz., prison today after spending seven months locked up for violating his probation. After he was met by a small coterie of family and friends, DMX (real name Earl Simmons) headed over to his probation officer to check in, then went on a little shopping spree. Along the way, he caught up with those closest to him and unveiled his plans to revive his dormant career. (E! Online)

Prior to his release, Ruff Ryders producer Swizz Beatz said X needs to regain his spot in hip-hop.

“I’ll always work with DMX; that’s my brother no matter what,” Swizz Beatz said in an interview. “X was a winner already. Now it’s just a matter of getting that title back. Bottom line is, he’s a winner. It’s just on when he wants to win again; it’s all up to him.” (All Hip Hop)
