G-Unit's DJ Whoo Kid recently talked about his admiration for 50 Cent and why people should acknowledge the similarities between Curtis Jackson and late hip-hop mogul Tupac Shakur.
In Whoo Kid’s perspective, Pac and 50 are two hip-hop artists who survived near-fatal shootings and came back to rule the music industry.
“The first thing I think of is 2Pac, one of the best f*cking, ridiculous dudes I’ve ever met,” Whoo Kid said in an interview when asked what he thinks of by the expression ‘street king immortal.’ “And of course hanging with my legend, 50 Cent. Even when I did that 50 Cent and 2Pac record, it always made sense. 50 Cent is like a super legend. I know people be like, ‘Oh, he’s 50’s deejay, blah blah blah,’ but you just can’t get around it. This guy, I’ve been through some incredible sh*t with him, he’s done some incredible sh*t, anybody who almost dies and still comes back is an incredible person. That’s why when you go to Africa, people die all the time. When people see him, he’s like a God ’cause who would do that? If I got shot, I would just f*cking quit. That’s the guy I am. … He just never gave up, no matter what people say about him — there will never be another street king immortal. He loves the streets, he respects it and the streets almost took him. That’s why he respects it so much.” (Montreality)
The colorful deejay also spilled the beans on Fif’s upcoming Street King Immortal LP.
“I’ve heard 22 songs. [Eminem] is on there, of course, and I love the Em record. Not the one that’s out, there’s another one,” Whoo Kid added. “I don’t know if he’s going to use it but there’s a lot of f*cking sh*t on there. I don’t know if he’s going to kill me but I tried to steal one joint to play — but I couldn’t do it because I knew he was going to beat the f*cking sh*t out of me. It’s definitely an upgraded 50 Cent and kind of like the struggles of bringing it back to Get Rich or Die Tryin’ but he always tries to top that and I think he did on this one because he got the producers back and his hunger’s back too. The last couple albums have been the rich 50 Cent but I think he made his mindset back into the hungry 50 Cent.” (Montreality)
Recently, 50 pushed his LP release date back due to internal changes at Interscope Records.
On Wednesday, the “I Get Money” MC revealed to MTV News that Street King won’t be out on February 26 and is now slated for a spring release, citing internal changes at Interscope Records as the reason. “Actually it’s the system,” he said. “It’s a lot of adjustments being made there, obviously Christmas I think 35 people got let go.” In the past, Fif has really taken Interscope to task when it came to delays and leakage of his music. This time, however, he seems to be understanding of the situation and exercising a great deal of patience. “It’s a shift in who’s responsibilities are what, so as fast as they get it together,” he said. “I’m confident they’ll put it together though, so it’ll be out.” (MTV)
A few months ago, the G-Unit boss spoke to SOHH about his past issues with the star-studded music label.
“With Interscope, look, all artists are going to express their frustrations with the system at some point,” Fif told SOHH. “I’ve had all the success in my career with Interscope Records. You know? So when everybody is there and working, that’s a powerful system there but a lot of people that are walking around the building now are new faces so I’m reintroducing myself and creating a new focus with the people that are actually there.” (SOHH)
