[DJ Ready Red is the first person to sample the movie “Scarface” and is also the man who gave the Geto Boys their sound. He was a member during the Ghetto Boys days when the group spelled the name differently and consisted of Prince Johnny-C and Sire Juke Box (The lineup that set up the foundation), and also a member of the newer lineup with Bushwick Bill, Scarface, and Willie-D.]
The Single “My Musician” and Unreleased GB album “Grip It!” with Jukebox and Prince Johnny-C:
My Musician was lead way into the new album (Grip it!) with Johnny-C and Juke Box called “Grip It!” That was a commercial album, we had a track called “Must Be The Music” , “Ride With The Convoy”, “Chico”, “Jump in the Hype”, and a couple other ones. They want to showcase my DJ skills on “My Musician” , during that time Johnny-C said we need to hail our DJ a little bit. There was a compilation on Priority Records called “Gangsta Rap” and the Ghetto Boys had a song on there called “Must Be The Music” which doesn’t even fit into the scheme of things that’s going on with that album. That album got leaked to Priority and that’s why the Grip It on the Other Level album is called that because promoters were already lined up after the success of the Makin’ Trouble album to get down on the Grip It album”
1990 Secret Hip-Hop Meeting & Group Line-Up Change:
As Rahiem (Furious 5) touched on yesterday, about the secret meeting that took place, when the powers that be came back they told us we were gonna be gangsta rappers and that whole album got scrapped. That is when the Geto Boys got regrouped with Willie-D, Scarface, and Bushwick Bill.
Epic Battle Between K9 (J Prince’s Brother) & Scarface:
James Prince said “I got this guy from the South Park, him and K9 is gonna battle, I want you to throw some beats at’em and were gonna do it over at your house.” About 4 or 5 O’Clock they come in and I meet DJ Akshen and I meet K9 and K9 do his thing, then Akshen does his thing, K9 do one more rhyme, then Brad come back at him and when K9 get ready to do his one more rhyme I said “You know what J, he (Scarface) is the man.”
Leaving The Group, Bushwick Being Shot & We Can’t Be Stopped Album Cover:
I quit and came home and told my finance and about 2 or 3 o’clock in the morning she is waking me up and Pee Wee was on the phone. That was John Bido’s right hand man. He was like “Yo Red, Chucky’s shot, he got shot right in the eye.” We all go running up to the hospital and I use to live with his Sister Rosie and she said that the bullet was lodged Bill’s speech and understanding and he could die. His eye was bigger than a cue ball.

I went downstairs and smoked a Newport next thing I know he is on the gurney and these boys are taking pictures man. I am like, I can’t do it! That was something that told me that it might be time to get off this bus. They asked me when I got there if I wanted come back and I was thinking about it, but that was the last straw.
Having Face Blocked Out On Scarface’s First Solo Album:
They blacked me out! To get rid of me, cause I told the powers that be that I’m out that was kind of like my punishment to be banished from the books. I was being made an example of “Sh*t, you know what happened to Red!” I laugh at all that sh*t now. They did put some copies out before they blacked me out.
