After causing a stir weeks ago by mistakenly accusing 17 year-old pop star Justin Bieber of wanting Ludacris to pen freestyle bars for him, DJ Premier now says he is down to link with the Canadian singer.
Although Premier has open hands ready for Biebs, he said there is one preliminary condition.
“I’d love to work with him, just as long as he writes it,” Premier said, jokingly adding, “He’s gotta sit there in front of me and write it. I’d love to work with him and it would be dope.” Primo went on to explain his insistence that Bieber pen his own lyrics. “At the cyphers, I said yo, I’m down for him to spit it, but if somebody writes your rap, you can’t do it. That was my only comment. Even though I said, ‘Write your own rhymes honey and all that’–I’ma jokester, I could do that and it wasn’t even a diss.” (RapFix)
Last month, Ludacris addressed Premier’s claim of getting asked to pen Bieber’s raps for the BET Hip-Hop Awards cypher segment.
“My Lil homie @justinbieber loves hip hop & at no point was I supposed to write his cypher flow. #getyafactsright,” he tweeted October 19th. (Ludacris’ Twitter)
Premier also said he talked to Luda and found out the ghost writing situation was fake.
“Spoke 2 @Ludacris & he witnessed Justin Beiber write his rhymes & that he can flow…he said he wasn’t s’posed to write 4 tha Cypher..,” he tweeted Wednesday (October 19).
“Now as I said 2days ago, I can’t ban nobody, I just stress my honest opinion on aLL my sh*t & the blog headings make it sound worse…”
“So shout to @Ludacris for givin’ me the correct info and I will continue to come wit dat raw sh*t ! “B.A.P.”(BumpyandPreem) comin today!” (DJ Premier’s Twitter)
Last month, Premier broke the news of Bieber almost getting a shot at doing the BET Hip-Hop Awards cypher.
“Justin Bieber even asked if he could do the cypher. Everybody was worried that it might mess up the integrity of BET but I was like, ‘Long as he got a dope rhyme, let him spit.’ But, then we heard, ‘He wants Luda to write his rhyme.’ I was like, ‘Oh, no, no, no, no, no.’ If you ain’t writing your own rhyme, you can’t do it. So, Justin, you gotta take a backseat on that one. Write your own rhymes, honey. You gotta call him honey on that one.” (YouTube)
