West Coast producer DJ Mustard has come forward to clear the air on comments he recently made on social media about “Classic Man” and “Fancy” production.

Mustard denied having any real beef but explained his point of view on lawsuits being flung around over sampled production.

“They took it out of context, what I was saying. They tried to make it like I was the one hating. I’m not hating. I felt how can you get any type or piece of money from ‘Classic Man’ – and you’re not even involved in the culture. You don’t even know the culture. If anybody should be suing anybody, then we all should be – I’m not suing anybody and I didn’t say I made it up either. I’m just saying that in my generation, I am who I am in my generation. I don’t say that with no cockiness. … I’ve been on the charts ever since I came in the game. I still ain’t left the charts. I don’t see myself slowing down no time soon.” (Hot 97)

Mustard went on a mini-rant Tuesday (August 18) in a few now-deleted Twitter posts.

To make matters worse, newcomer Jidenna has just recently cashed out on Mustard’s wave with the infectious single titled “Classic Man,” a song that allegedly sampled “Fancy.” Tonight, Mustard went on Twitter to speak his mind about the songs that he felt were “rip offs” of his sound. (Complex)

Aside from this, Mustard has kept busy working on the upcoming NBA 2K16 video game.

2K16’s soundtrack will be comprised of six in-game playlists, including three lists individually curated by each producer, an international “Around the World” playlist, the 2K Classics Mixtape featuring fan favorites from previous 2K titles, and a master playlist that includes all 50 tracks from this year’s selection. DJ Khaled confirmed his involvement in the game with a few Instagram posts last month.

  1. Didn’t understand shit in the incoherent babble written above. This post had zero informative value, it was just a collection of nonsensical phrases. Guess I’ll check out the 10 remaining 5 sentence articles on Power and Meek Mill vs Drake. Maybe somebody saw Meek Mill getting a room at the Sir Francis Drake hotel.

  2. So what he’s saying is that although he didn’t create the sound, because he’s relevant in this generation’s music, he should be credited as the source for the sound?? -__-
