With this week's release of Dirty Money's Last Train to Paris, group members Dawn and Kaleena sat down with SOHH to discuss their decision not to be illustrated on the album's cover.

Dawn believes displaying the France’s Centre Georges Pompidou museum complimented the album’s content.

“I don’t think it was a certain thing about whether we wanted to be featured on the [Last Train to Paris] cover or not, we were going with what best told the story of the album,” Dawn told SOHH. “And I think the energy of the album and what we’re saying about Paris and balancing the whole love story, we didn’t want to put a train on there and [have people] take it literally and we didn’t want to do the standard; us three standing there looking at our faces. We wanted to do something that had deep meaning behind what we were doing and had a balance to what we were talking about. We felt that cover expressed the energy and atmosphere of the album. Right now people need to get used to not seeing the artist on a cover. Not to say that it’s a wrong thing, it’s just that we’re a little bit more than that and we wanted to make sure we gave the essence of what this album is visually, sonically and with our videos as well. That’s the only reason why the album cover looked the way it did.” (SOHH)

Kaleena also feels hiding the group’s image rebirths an old school feel.

“You know back in the day you would get the vinyl…and it didn’t necessarily have the picture of the artist on there. You would just be like, ‘This record is crazy!’ So that’s what we’re going back to. We’re going back to the basics where it’s not about us, it’s about the music.” (SOHH)

When the cover initially leaked online last summer, amateur photographer Jarrod “Jrod” Kimber said Interscope Records reached out to him and purchased his Centre Georges Pompidou Paris image for Diddy.

“Obviously I am not a professional snapper or anything,” he explained. “This was taken on a holiday while waiting for my wife (who can be seen under the G) on a small camera. The only artistic part of it was me seeing the cool red right and going up and down the escalator a few times to get the right shot…I can see why some of his fans might see it as whack. It isn’t really a cover aimed at the majority of people who buy Diddy records.” (Rap-Up)

Producer Rico Love previously spoke to SOHH about helping co-write Diddy’s new album.

“I did a few records on the album. I was in New York, Puff flew me out. I was just in [Daddy’s House studio] vibing. I came across the beat that Danja sent me. I don’t write anything down usually the first like that I hear in my head is the keeper. I went in the booth and I heard “hello, good morning.’ It was so quick, it was so fast. It’s still unbelievable. I grew up really looking up to him. People have misconceptions about Puff [but] he kept his word. He said, ‘I’m gonna make sure you get your look.’ He called me for the video. He didn’t have to show the love that he does.” (SOHH)
