The Dipset reunion has finally taken place as Cam’ron, Jim Jones, Freekey Zekey and Juelz Santana have all linked up for a photo shoot in Brooklyn, New York this weekend.
According to hip-hop personality Miss Info, the gathering took place on Friday (June 11).
On Friday, at a construction site in Brooklyn, the big four, Cam’ron, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana and Freekey Zekey, all got together and filmed a video to show the world a unified front! It didn’t happen at Summer Jam last week (Juelz had his own set, Jimmy was blocked from the building and Cam surprised the crowd with Vado during DJ Khaled‘s set) but that doesn’t meant that the wheels haven’t been turning in the same direction behind the scenes. We’ll see the results from the video shoot soon, (and hopefully some music?) but I’m just glad to see old friends moving forward : ) (Miss Info TV)
Earlier this month, Freekey Zekey revealed a Dipset reunion was set to take place at New York radio station Hot 97’s Summer Jam.
A full-fledged Diplomats reunion was in the cards at Hot 97’sSummer Jam concert last night (June 6) at the New Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey, but forces beyond the Harlem crew’s control denied them the opportunity, according to Dipset’s own Freekey Zeekey. “There’s no such thing as a half reunion,” Freekey told XXLMag.com backstage, with Cam’ron just a couple of feet away. “What happened is they didn’t let Jim in. I told Jim and Juelz we’ll meet up at the after party. [Jim’s] banned from, like, 90% of the venues in the tri-state area.” (XXL Mag)
In May, Juelz talked about learning of Jim and Cam’s reconciliation.
“Cam and Jim have definitely spoke, me and Jim have talked about putting everything together and putting the past behind us,” Juelz told radio personality Angie Martinez. “At the end of the day, I’m willing to be a big person and put whatever I got to put to the side and if the fans want an album, we can do that…I was like a fan finding out, because it was like, ‘Oh word, that’s what’s going on?’ I hadn’t talked to Jim when it first happened — I kinda heard it through the Internet and then it was the same type of way, then I spoke with Jim…I’m happy that they were able to do that.” (Hot 97)
Although Jim and Cam’s problems began to escalate publicly in 2007, the duo reportedly began to distance themselves a year prior.
The rift within the Dipset family began to surface in 2007 during Cam’s beef with 50 Cent. When Killa dropped his modern day diss classic “Curtis,” both Juelz and Jimmy were noticeably absent from the music video and both refused to get involved. Jones later revealed that he and Cam’ron had been beefing since before 2006, but kept it quiet out of loyalty. But that disappeared months later, in September 2007, when Juelz and Jones surprised fans when they appeared onstage with 50 Cent during an NYC show. This was while Cam had fell of the hip-hop radar, which he later revealed was to take care of his ill mother. (Keep It Trill)
