Diddy and Dirty Money's Last Train to Paris compilation album is reportedly en route to sell up to 65,000 copies in its first-week on store shelves.
Based on one-day estimates, new releases from R&B singers Tank, Ciara and R. Kelly will also chart.
Epic’s MICHAEL, the late superstar’s second official posthumous release (after last year’s This Is It soundtrack), hit retail Tuesday, and first-week sales estimates are now between 225-250k for the album. Estimates for R. Kelly’s typically salacious Love Letter are in the 150-160k range, which would beat most industry forecasts, as the veteran R&B superstar tends to do. Next highest debut comes from Bad Boy/Interscope’s Diddy/Dirty Money, the latest project from P. Diddy, which would seem to be in the 60-65k range. American Idol alumnus Crystal Bowersox‘s 19/Jive/JLG debut is on target for 45-50k, with Atlantic’s Tank aiming for 40-45k and Jive/JLG’s Ciara between 35-40k. (HITS Daily Double)
Dirty Money’s Dawn recently talked to SOHH about why fans should cop the LP.
“The biggest reason you should go out and buy this album is because it’s a new movement that people are ready for. Music is changing and Dirty Money is the new movement that everybody wants to get on. That’s the biggest thing. This is a new sound, a new flavor and it’s a new “black”. Everybody wants to be cool, so you need this album. This is what the cool kids are doing. All the cool kids are gonna have the album so you need to follow the leader.” (5 Reasons Why)
Kaleena told SOHH that the album represents Dirty Money’s dream coming true.
“This was our dream to do this. We have a love story that we’re telling that the whole world can relate to. It’s a relatable album. When you put it on, you feel like, ‘Oh my God, I felt like this before and I feel like this now.’ It’s one of those messages that’ll help you get through something. It’ll help you understand that there’s light at the end of the tunnel. And whatever road you choose to take, it’s okay. We thank God to be here.” (5 Reasons Why)
Producer Rico Love previously spoke to SOHH about helping co-write “Hello, Good Morning.”
“I did a few records on the album. I was in New York, Puff flew me out. I was just in [Daddy’s House studio] vibing. I came across the beat that Danja sent me. I don’t write anything down usually the first like that I hear in my head is the keeper. I went in the booth and I heard “hello, good morning.’ It was so quick, it was so fast. It’s still unbelievable. I grew up really looking up to him. People have misconceptions about Puff [but] he kept his word. He said, ‘I’m gonna make sure you get your look.’ He called me for the video. He didn’t have to show the love that he does.” (SOHH)
