Based off a leaked excerpt, Diddy says his support for Obama digs deeper than politics.

“I love the president like most of us. I just want the president to do better. There’s a difference between us voting for somebody and us believing in somebody. He’s the person that we believed in so I pray night and day that he understands how God ordained his presidency. I feel there was a promise made to God to look after people that was less fortunate, and [many] of those people are African-American…” (The Source)

No stranger to hip-hop, Obama recently revealed he listens to artists such as Nas and Lil Wayne.

“Thanks to Reggie [Love, the president’s personal aide], my rap palate has greatly improved. Jay-Z used to be sort of what predominated, but now I’ve got a little Nas and a little Lil Wayne and some other stuff, but I would not claim to be an expert. Malia and Sasha are now getting old enough to where they start hipping me to things. Music is still a great source of joy and occasional solace in the midst of what can be some difficult days.” (Rolling Stone)

In the past, Jay-Z revealed that he was also one of the president’s personal favorites.

Rapper Jay-Z said President Barack Obama was among his biggest fans and that he frequently played the artist’s explicit tunes while exercising, it was reported Friday. The 10-time Grammy award winner said in an interview with U.K. broadcaster the BBC that the President enjoyed working up a sweat to the sounds of Jay-Z’s latest album, Blueprint 3. “Barack loves hip hop. When I called him he was playing Blueprint in the gym,” the star said. (My Fox)

After Obama’s January 2009 presidential induction, Diddy credited the president for inspiring him to be greater.

“I just wanted to share with y’all some feelings that I have — some real, like, personal feelings,” Diddy said in a vlog post. “One of the most beautiful things about this situation and Barack Obama is it’s even had me reflect on myself. It’s even had me talk to myself and say, ‘I can be greater, I could do more, I could give more, I could have even more of a positive impact.’ And I can help more people. I think we should all push ourselves to that point. That’s really deep that there’s someone out there that inspires me like that. I feel blessed that I’m able to see this moment. I’m on Team Obama, I’m on Team USA, I’m on Team Black America — I want to be greater than I am right now. And I want you to be greater. I want us to be greater.” (Diddy Blog)

The new Source issue drops January 25th.
