Diddy Open To Filling “American Idol” Judge Vacancy, “Please, Can I Have The Job?”

Rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has claimed that he would be interested in replacing television personality Simon Cowell on the popular show, “American Idol.”

Diddy has requested that fans support his quest to join “American Idol.”

“I have been fronting all this time, trying to act like I don’t want that spot,” he said in an interview. “[But] I spoke to Simon’s business manager, and I found out how much that boy makes a week. I am praying right now to ‘American Idol,’ … I want everybody to get on Twitter, MySpace, Facebook and say that Diddy should get the Simon spot — but for the same amount of money that Simon was getting, else it’s a deal-breaker. I’m tired of being cool: That number that Simon was getting a week is ridiculous. I can’t even be cool with that. Please, can I have the job, whoever’s in charge of giving that job?” (MTV)

Former “Idol” winner Ruben Studdard has also vouched for Diddy.

When it comes to Simon Cowell leaving, Studdard understands it’s going to be hard to replace him but said this about Diddy: “Diddy would be a good fit because he has that no nonsense attitude when he’s picking artists but it’s still going to be a hard spot to fill.” That would be interesting to watch but Diddy probably wouldn’t be able to commit to a whole season because of his own busy schedule and possibly conflict of interest, with Making the Band (if that show ever comes back). Diddy recently performed on the show with his Dirty Money crew.

As a sort of inverse to Usher‘s performance earlier in the show, Diddy arrived on a staircase dressed in all white, at first bathed in a heavenly light from above while live violins and timpani kicked off the rocking new single from the upcoming album Last Train to Paris. Diddy was then met on a smoky stage by his Dirty Money mates Dawn Richard and Kalenna, who impressively kept up with their energetic frontman. Halfway through the song, the light show was introduced with an address to those watching at home. (MTV)

Diddy celebrated his musical return with a handful of tweets.

“Thank you to all the diddy-dirty money fans wishing us well!!!! Thank you. We perform after usher and will iam!!! At 940 east time! GONE!,” he wrote last night (March 31). “Man yall don’t how much yall support means to me!!!! Its my 1st show back. And I had so many well wished. Thank you. Let’s go!
