From the rap veteran’s perspective, Weezy’s absence from hip-hop will not go unnoticed.

“I think we gonna miss a certain energy that Wayne has,” Diddy said. “The beauty about it is, he’ll be back, and hopefully he’ll come back a better person. Whenever we get in trouble, we’re in the public spotlight. So hopefully there’s a lot of kids out there who could learn from any mistakes that we may have put ourselves in, even if we’re not guilty of the crime sometimes. We are human. People have to learn: ‘Make sure you know where you’re going, who you riding with, what the situation is.’ We’re targets. I’m just happy he doesn’t have to do a lot of time and that he’ll be out, and hopefully he’ll use the time wisely and use it in a positive way.” (MTV)

Young Money‘s Drake also said the rap game will be impacted by Wayne’s bid.

“I think you’ll miss everything about Wayne,” Drake suggested in an interview. “I don’t think there will be anybody like Lil Wayne ever again in hip-hop. He paralyzes a room when he walks into it, his wordplay, the excitement that he brings to his music. I think that for eight months a lot of us will have to work a lot harder to keep hip-hop as exciting as it’s been for the last two years. He’s a strong-willed guy. I can imagine it would take a toll on anybody. I just hope that he comes out for the better.” (Rolling Stone)

G-Unit‘s Tony Yayo has offered some insight on what Wayne’s life will be like for the next 365 days.

“Well when you go to court, that’ll be his last time,” Yayo told hip-hop personality DJ Vlad. “So you better boot something. Make sure you bring some weed or whatever, right? Make sure you bring your weed or your sizzurp, make sure you boot that. Cheek it. Tell him to cheek his pills, he better cheek all his drugs. He better make sure he boot, put that sh*t in his system. No h*mo, it’s in you. He’s gonna get processed quick because he’s a super star, they know everywhere we bring this n*gga, all right, it’s gonna be a problem. So when they go from Manhattan court, they’re gonna have him sitting in his own cell in the back of the courtroom and then boom, they’re gonna take him to Rikers Island — he’s gonna get processed, take his name, take his picture, everybody’s gonna be open, his mugshots, CO’s are gonna look out for him, is bid is gonna be easy.” (Vlad TV)

Yesterday, the rapper’s sentencing was postponed due to a fire at the New York courthouse he was scheduled to appear in.

Dwayne “Lil Wayne” Carter was scheduled to be sentenced and jailed on Tuesday afternoon, but the sentencing may be rescheduled Wednesday, according to Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Charles Solomon. The courthouse at 100 Centre Street was closed Tuesday after a fire broke out in the basement around 10:30 a.m. Court employees speculated that the courthouse could also be closed on Wednesday, if not longer.
