A brief war of words with platinum-selling rap star 50 Cent isn't keeping French Montana from celebrating his "Pop That" from going number one on the urban music charts.

Bad Boy Records CEO Diddy broke the news and publicly shouted out French this afternoon.

“Congrats to @FrencHMonTanA . Pop Dat just went #1 on the Urban Billboard charts! Thank you to the whole Bad Boy & Interscope Staff!,” he tweeted October 11th.

“The Rage can now begin with @machinegunkelly’s #LaceUp available NOW! http://bit.ly/NRwJin #BadBoy” (Diddy’s Twitter)

Montana acknowledged Puff’s announcement and thanked his Bad Boy family.

“RT @Wale: RT @iamdiddy: Congrats to @FrencHMonTanA . Pop Dat just went #1 on the Urban Billboard charts! Thank you to the whole Bad Boy,” French tweeted. (French Montana’s Twitter)

Recently, 2 Live Crew’s Uncle Luke spoke on waiting for residuals from the sampled hit.

“Pop That,” set to appear on French’s forthcoming debut Excuse My French, samples the former 2 Live Crew rapper’s single “I Wanna Rock.” And according to Luke, he hasn’t been compensated just yet. “When I heard the song I said, ‘Oh this is a hit,’ and the next thing I said is, ‘Where’s my check?” Luke told MTV News on the red carpet at the 2012 BET Hip-Hop Awards. “Ain’t nobody told me about my check yet. I have not gotten the check yet, so I’m looking for the check,” he said, adding that he would track down French’s boss to sort it all out. “I’m gonna talk to Diddy in the back about it.” (MTV)

This all comes in light of a current feud between Montana and G-Unit‘s 50 Cent.

The saga between 50 Cent and French Montana officially continues with some new and interesting developments. You might recall that Fif ranted earlier today after he read Montana’s interview with Complex, in which the Bronx MC noted that Fif could have been more successful if he steered clear of beefs. But now Montana has responded in kind, with a shot at 50’s style and a RT from longtime 50 nemesis Rick Ross. You can peep the tweets below. “@50cent d*mnnn homie last year u was da mannnnn homieeeeeee wat da f*ckkk happen to uuuuuu” “stop wearning jean shots wit your knee cap showin swagless monkeyyyyyyyy #cokeboyssss lol” “RT @rickyrozay: y’all kno these h*e n*ggas get emotional around the holidays haaa” (Complex)
