Former New York Yankees star Derek Jeter has put an immediate end to reports claiming he backed out of a business deal due to a company’s affiliation to rap star 50 Cent.

Jeter said he never cited 50’s ties to underwear line Frigo for causing a falling out.

The former Yankees slugger calls claims by Frigo owner Mathias Ingvarsson “categorically false,” and he’s “disgusted by Mr. Ingvarsson’s decision to make these false allegations against me in the press, instead of attempting to work out our business dispute in private.” (Page Six)

50 Cent reacted to the headline-generating story on Instagram this week.

Reports this week claimed Jeter did not hold up his deal with company Frigo and singled out its affiliation with 50.

According to the suit, Jeter signed a 3-year deal to be a director of the company in 2011 and agreed to participate in major publicity events. But things went south in 2013 — first, Jeter allegedly told Frigo he didn’t want his involvement with the company to be public during the U.S. launch. So, the company tapped 50 Cent to be the brand ambassador instead — which didn’t jive with Jeter, according to the suit. The majority owner of Frigo, Mathias Ingvarsson, claims Jeter felt 50 would make the brand too “urban.” (TMZ)

Reports also claimed the Jeter situation ultimately cost Frigo around $30 million.

As a result of Jeter’s alleged reneging, the majority owner of Frigo claims the company lost close to $30 MILLION in value … and he personally wants Jeter to fork over roughly $4.7 million to help make things right. Ingvarsson wants to take the case to arbitration — which would keep the messy details out of open court. (TMZ)
