Hollywood actor/comedian Dave Chappelle reportedly rubbed fans the wrong way this week after giving a poorly-received Detroit performance.

According to reports, Chappelle is being blasted for Thursday’s Fillmore in Motown for arriving late, telling few jokes and appearing intoxicated.

In this video you can hear someone in the crowd yell, “Let’s hear some of the act!” Dave responds, “Well sir, it’s a little late for that. Right now I’ve gotta get off the stage because it’s 2:00 in the morning.” The crowd quickly reminds him it was only 1 AM.
Now fans are ripping Dave on Facebook, calling the show … “A waste of time and money” … “more like a press conference” … and “HORRIBLE.” Fans dropped anywhere from $50 to about $240 for tickets, and although many are demanding refunds. (TMZ)

Dave’s camp has already stepped forward to address the performance.

As for Dave … a rep tells us, “Out of the 50 shows on the tour, Thursday was definitely not his best set On the flip side, the incident inspired some additional sharp-witted material and (Friday) he came back with a vengeance.”

Reports claim Chappelle struggled a few years ago during a Fillmore set.

The last time Chappelle performed at The Fillmore, just a few years ago, it was an utter disaster. He was heckled so hard that he stopped performing material, and just talked with the crowd for three hours. At the time, Chappelle was just beginning to return to the spotlight — three years later, Chappelle has shaken the hecklers, and is back to doing real comedy. (Click On Detroit)

Last year, Chappelle relied on rap veteran Nas to take over the second part of his limited Radio City Music Hall standup series in New York.

Eventually he’d introduce the evening’s performer, Nas. Chappelle cheerfully announced the handpicked rapper’s booking during an appearance on “The Late Show With David Letterman.” Nas, celebrating the 20th anniversary of his “Illmatic” debut album, performed with a 45-piece orchestra, making a set filled with gritty tales of New York City street life sound gorgeous. 1. All the greats bomb, it’s a right of passage. You try different things against the norm, or you get drunk or high, it happens in comedy and always will, only thing different is the social media thing now, so they make it out to be “oh he’s failing off” and that’s not clearly the case. With genius comes dry spells it’s just that simple, Dave is a killer when he’s on and that’s all that matters lley
