[With a long-awaited Too Talented To Be Bullsh*ttin’ mixtape finally available, Houston native Dat Boy a.k.a. Chyco talks to SOHH about heading to Atlanta to link with Zaytoven and host DJ Scream for the must-hear release.]

DJ Scream and Zaytoven are both based out of Atlanta and they ended up being sort of intertwined with the new project.

Let me remind you, I’m a Houston artist. Being from Houston, we don’t have much of an infrastructure for getting any type of ground as a hip-hop artist but in Atlanta, a hip-hop artist can actually grind. Being there and a sociable person, being a genuine person and meeting people such a Zaytoven, willing to be mutually successful in your goals, anybody will want to work with you.

That’s not the case in Houston but it is in Atlanta.

They just took to me. I can’t even answer why they liked me so much. They invited me to a studio to work with them. DJ Scream invited me out to a radio interview, it was a Sirius Satellite radio interview, which was incredible and went to a lot of people.

I also have history because when I was a little bit younger, I was a part of a group called Young Problemz and we had a very big single called “Boy I Got So Many” and it featured Gucci Mane, who was from Atlanta, and we shot the video with him.

I’m the only young artist from Houston that’s not from SwishaHouse at the time and I had this big song with Gucci Mane. It’s always been that.

I really pioneered the whole new Houston sound. If you ask the Sauce Twinz or Trill Sammy [they’ll tell you that].

We stick together and we can learn from what Atlanta is doing right.

I knew in Atlanta I wanted to make a project. I was recording and I had my mind set on it. I hadn’t been rapping for about seven years. I had taken a hiatus from it to raise my kids and start my family.

I had to do what was important for me but I also had this talent that people kept reminding me that I should use. That’s why I named the project Too Talented To Be Bullsh*ttin’ because someone had just told me, “You’re too talented to not be doing sh*t. Dude. Put it out.”

It was going to come out regardless. I went to Atlanta to meet and work and to make even more music. It just so happened I was well-received there.

Too Talented To Be Bullsh*ttin’ is set to premiere today at 1 PM EST via LiveMixtapes.com
