In the clip, Dame is shown putting Killa Cam up on retail-based app, Fancy.

Rap moguls and startups collide once again in this new commercial for Fancy, a Pinterest competitor. The ad, a low budget affair that shows Damon Dash introducing Fancy to Cam’ron as a way to sell $450 jerseys, debuted yesterday on WorldStarHipHop–an atypical launching pad for tech marketing–and has already been viewed almost 4 million times. Like Pinterest, Fancy is a photo-sharing website and app, except that Fancy is more focused on selling the items in the pictures. The New York-based company, which used to be called The Fancy, is best known for its celebrity connections–like Ashton Kutcher, Nas, and Kanye West–as well the company’s willingness to try different ways of making money. Rap star Kanye West reportedly popped up at the New York-based company’s offices a couple weeks ago.

Before his first Yeezus show in Brooklyn at Barclays Center, Kanye West apparently popped intothe offices of Fancy to have a quick (45-minute) talk with the staff. We’ve been told that Yeezy discussed his design company DONDA and his goals for the future. He told them that he wants to disrupt the fashion industry and that someday he wants DONDA to be a trillion-dollar company. We’ve heard Kanye say these things before in interviews and on stage, but those who were there say he was just as passionate about it away from the cameras and lights. (Complex)

Last year, Mr. West revealed his interest in the overnight company.

West even name-dropped the site’s founder, Joe Einhorn, fueling speculation about a possible high-profile investment. Einhorn refuted the rumor, however, explaining that the collaboration stemmed solely from the rapper’s credentials as a creative individual and trendsetter. “All the innovation has happened in social and mobile but not so much in e-commerce,” Einhorn told Rolling Stone. “Amazon and eBay look the same way they did 10 years ago. They’re still search-driven. This is a new way of discovering a product before you even knew you wanted to buy it.” (Rolling Stone)

According to summer reports, Fancy has sparked mainstream attention from the likes of celebrities like Will Smith.

The Fancy, an online shop with items culled by customers, raised $53 million from investors including American Express Co. (AXP), billionaire Len Blavatnik and actor Will Smith, people familiar with the matter said. The funding round, which was disclosed last week in a filing that didn’t name the investors, values the company at $600 million, said one of the people, who asked not to be named because the information is private. The financing will aid the expansion of the New York-based company, which sells items like light-up shower heads and alcohol flasks with cigar storage. The site, fancy.com, takes in about $3 million in revenue each month, the person said. (Bloomberg)
