Music moguls Damon “Dame” Dash, Diddy and Janet Jackson all paid homage to the memory of late R&B singer Aaliyah this week on social media.
All three entertainers resorted to their Instagram pages to remember Aaliyah on the anniversary of her 2001 passing.

Last spring, producer Timbaland dished on his love for the late musician during a concert.
“I don’t touch baby girl’s records—you know that’s Aaliyah. I was riding home one day. Sleep. She spoke to me in my sleep and said, ‘[Tink]’s the one.'” (The FADER’s Instagram)
On the singer’s 36th birthday anniversary, Dame Dash remembered his former lover.

Last November, Timbaland defended his publicized social media bashing of a Lifetime film based on Aaliyah’s life.
“I don’t know whose fault it it,” Tim responded when asked about the Lifetime production before saying the fact Aaliyah’s life story would be told for a made-for-TV upset him the most. “That’s what made me kinda go off the way I did. It was the first initial time and it was like, ‘Wow. This is how y’all are gonna really do it? Y’all are really gonna put this out?” I always thought it was a rumor. I thought it was a joke. Evidently it wasn’t then I started to realize, ‘Wait a minute, this is really real.’ … I shouldn’t have never paid it any attention.” (Hot 97)
