Female rapper Da Brat has shared her opinion on Nicki Minaj's image and why she feels the Young Money star represents for all female emcees.
Along with her content, Brat also digs Nicki’s crazy wardrobe choices.
“I don’t know what it was, but hopefully with Nicki Minaj being out, people will pay more attention now to see that we got it crackin’, too,” Brat explained in an interview. “I appreciate what she does, and I like her music. I like the fact she doesn’t stay in a box. I like the fact that she sings. I like the fact that she wears different-colored wigs and that she’s all about the fashion. I dig that. I don’t want to stray too far from myself because naturally I am a tomboy. Naturally I have a whole lot of swag, and I ain’t letting that go, but I’m tired of these braids.” (Sister 2 Sister)
Recently, Brat revealed her thoughts on Minaj’s war of words with Lil Kim.
“My personal thoughts on beefing — when it’s only like six of us left still trying to put out records — it’s not enough for us to beef,” Brat said when asked her opinion on Kim and Minaj. “It makes no sense to me. But if that’s what they do let them do that.” (VIBE)
Female battle rapper Lady Luck recently told SOHH Kim and Minaj should be allowed to keep their battle going.
“See, it’d be dope if everybody else still had the spirit of hip-hop in them,” Luck explained to SOHH. “But everybody’s a judge now. Everybody is a critic now. The females can’t even have a little competition between one another without somebody saying this one’s hating or that one’s jealous without stuff going on. I definitely feel like it’s competitive and I feel like people need to pay more homage to Kim. People need to show Kim love and at the same time, give Nicki respect because she’s out there knocking walls down.” (SOHH)
After being freed from a three-year jail stint last month, Brat talked about her experience behind bars.
Formerly incarcerated rapper Da Brat tells TMZ she did NOT strike up a romance with another female inmate during her time behind bars … though she insists everyone wanted a shot at her “goodies.” Da Brat — who last week completed a three year prison stint for attacking a waitress with a bottle in 2007 — tells us, “Every female in prison wanted me … all of them wish they could have gotten these goodies.” Brat insists her goodies were never gotten. Brat tells us … some of her famous friends reached out during her time — “Jermaine Dupri sent me the most money … Omar Epps and his wife looked out.” (TMZ)
