[With his new “Live Evil where Evil Live” album finally available, D12’s Swifty McVay tells SOHH how much thought went into its vivid cover art.]
I probably realized what I wanted for the cover art about two-thirds into the album. When I found out what direction the album was really going, a few songs in, I really thought about it. It was the same way we thought about it with the D12 stuff.
We wanted to keep the same essence with the Devil’s Night project and I was in that same mood for the Live Evil. I wanted to give it that same essence but on the solo tip.
Maybe halfway into the album I wanted to get that cover put together to keep that essence of where D12 came from.
There’s a lot of competition out there. The fans want something and when things start to die down, they want something new.
So I wanted to give them a full body of work that they could ride to. I think they’ve been asking and wanting.

I just wanted them to have enough music for them to ride to for a while before I go ahead and hit them with the next project.
I didn’t want to short the fans because I’ve been reading what people are saying online and decided to go ahead and give them enough music to be satisfied. I think it was dope with this album being a very conceptual album and at the same time, I think it’s great everyone gets to see how I get down with the Dirty Dozen with Devil’s Night.
So you’re getting a well-balanced amount of me rolled into one. I think this has all been great timing.
