[With his new Hot Tub Time Machine 2 movie arriving in theaters this Friday (February 20), cast member Craig Robinson spoke to SOHH and other select media outlets about the must-see sequel.]
We have a lot of fun, on and off the screen. I enjoy that that comes out. I feel like that comes out, the comradery and just having a good time.
That can really take the viewer away, it gives them that escapism that you yearn for when you go to a movie.
What I like better about this one, first of all, the fact that it’s a sequel means it comes with all of these connotations. You tip your hat off to the first one but then want to break some new ground. I like that we did that.
There’s some scenes in here where, I can’t wait for them to see it so I can quote it with them.
“Choozy Doozy” is a scene that kind of sticks out for me. It’s like the freedom grows. We already have freedom to play but when I do Lisa Lopes song, I’m making up the words as I’m going along.
The freedom to play with that? I love it all.
We get the script and then every scene we have carte blanche. You get the important stuff out and then you get to play around with it.
It was a very collaborative process. There’s a lot of pitching jokes.
We get plenty of creative input.
