Making the announcement on Twitter yesterday, the duo detailed what fans could expect from the partnership.

“just locked in with Cash Money officially. We always been fam and that wont ever stop, now we’re making power moves 2gether on the business.”

“look out for projects produced by Cool &Dre thru CashMoney imprint alongside records produced for the CMYM label roster. Stunna lets get it!”

“shout to every1 at Cash Money for helping to make this partenership a reality! freeweezy! I Am Not A Human on the way!” (Cool & Dre’s Twitter)

Last May, producer Sean Garrett told SOHH about nearing a deal with Cash Money.

“It’s very, very, very close man,” Sean told SOHH about inking a deal with Cash Money/Young Money. “You gotta understand, I already got money, Cash Money has much, much, much money.Young Money also has much, much money. Oh and ‘Free Weezy,’ you know what I’m saying? It’s just, we had to make sure that, well, there’s a lot that’s coming together there. And I really have a lot of respect and honor the way that system was built so we just had to make sure that everything was a go but from all aspects and you know, I’m excited. It’s gonna be tremendous but the ink is almost dry. [laughs]” (SOHH)

He also believes Cash Money Records represents the future of music.

“I really got a lot of respect for Wayne,” Sean said in an interview. “Wayne embraced me with open arms before he went on a little vacation. He took me on tour with him. He was really open arms about rocking with him. He put me on the pilot seat going on right before him. I got a lot of respect for [Cash Money], because it represents where music is going as far as really believing in yourself and not just being in a box. Just creating your own style, your own movement and believing in your team. Cash Money is really family-orientated. I can bring a lot to Cash Money, in reference to what I do, developing their other artists, helping them to travel across the water. They’ve got artists they are trying to break internationally. It’s sort of a win/win situation.” (MTV)

Despite the positive outlook for Garrett and Cool & Dre, ex-Cash Money Records producer Mannie Fresh recently talked about his past beef with the label.

“I did albums for Cash Money, I didn’t do singles, I did whole albums for Cash Money, and at the end of the day I’m saying I wasn’t paid for albums so its like you’re doing 10 songs and somebody pays you for 1. What would that be equivalent to? I just said hey this is an example of what it would be equivalent to and its no secret that everybody know why I left Cash Money. We’re on speaking terms now but truth be told, yeah it was behind money, everybody know what it was…In truth, I will work with them again based on this, if they cut the check. Its not going to be based on just some words but we done talked about that, we done been there and by the grace of God, we ain’t enemies, none of us hate each other but business is business and that was a hard lesson for me to learn. I was in love with doing music, I wasn’t paying attention to my business so I’m not even going to say that was all Cash Money’s fault that was my fault as well but I was a young dude that didn’t know any better. So now that I know better, I’m not going to plug in my scene with out doing business and I got my beats and my paper work right.” (All Hip Hop)
