Chicago rap veteran Common has finally provided an update on his upcoming The Dreamer, The Believer album and said it will hit stores next month.
According to Common, the LP will reach retail outlets right before the Christmas holiday.
Common phoned into The Morning After on West Michigan’s 1045 SNX today with the intent of promoting his upcoming TV series Hell on Wheels, premiering this Sunday on AMC. During his conversation with hosts Broadway, Internio, and Hughet (for whom I intern), the Chicago rapper-actor revealed a December 20 release for his ninth album The Dreamer, The Believer, which was recently pushed back from November 22 to an undisclosed (until now) date in the Christmas month. The rapper is currently gearing up to release a music video for his new “Sweet” single.
Common hits the “Sweet” spot on a new track off his upcoming album The Dreamer, The Believer, arriving before Christmas. The Chi-town MC displays a rare moment of cockiness while rhyming over the straight hip-hop record. “How can I say this?/ F*ck it, I’m the greatest/ I am the A-list for all these great debaters,” he boasts. A video for the song was recently shot in Haiti. (Rap-Up)
Over the summer, reports hit the Internet showing Common signing to Warner Bros.
XXLMag.com has learned that Common has signed to Warner Bros. Records. A source close to the deal has confirmed with us that the Chicago rapper/actor will be releasing his next record on Warner. As of press time a release date is unknown. (XXL Mag)
Last year, the Chi town emcee opened up about what his LP will encompass.
“It’s ‘good’ music,” he said. “The themes are street music and elevation, things that I feel like I always embody when I rap. But here there’s new situations, new solutions.” As far as production goes, Common says he’s working with No I.D. and Kanye West, both of which have produced a couple of his previous albums — “Be” and “Finding Forever,” “Resurrection” and “One Day It’ll All Make Sense” respectively. “I’m striving to get it out in the fall,” he said, adding that fans can expect a single by late summer or early fall. The Dreamer, The Believer is slated to drop Tuesday, December 20th.
