Along with his relationship, Com denied taking part in Ye’s new album but said it would be “powerful.”

“I been around Kanye for what he’s been working on but I haven’t worked on it. He can produce, write, he does it all so he doesn’t need much help. I like when we’re around each other creating because I think we inspire each other. Kanye is definitely going to come with something powerful and I’m definitely coming with something that’s powerful and soulful, just the essence of what hip-hop feels like, just good music.” (VIBE)

According to Common, Ye has kept a low profile since interrupting Taylor Swift‘s acceptance speech at the VMAs.

“He’s doing really good, man,” Common said in an interview. “Kanye is one of the good-hearted brothers in this game. I’ve seen him do so much for so many people. I can never fix my mouth to say anything negative about him. If I see him do something that I don’t feel is right, that’s something I’ll take care of personally. I’m starting on the next album right now with No I.D., who produced some of my earlier stuff, and Twilight Tone who also produced some of the earlier stuff. I’m working with them and Kanye, and I’m going to go to some boom-bap.” (MTV)

DJ Premier talked about the sound of Ye’s upcoming album in a recent interview.

“Well, first of all, if you look at all of Kanye West’s output, he actually did a lot to bring back sampling and make it cool again, even though he’s more of a mainstream artist” Premier explained. “But his new album is strictly hard beats and rhyme. He’s totally done with electro. You’re gonna be surprised what you hear.” (Amajanese)

Common recently said that Kanye would play an active role on his new album, The Believer.

“It’s ‘good’ music,” he said. “The themes are street music and elevation, things that I feel like I always embody when I rap. But here there’s new situations, new solutions.” As far as production goes, Common says he’s working with No I.D. and Kanye West, both of which have produced a couple of his previous albums — “Be” and “Finding Forever,” “Resurrection” and “One Day It’ll All Make Sense” respectively. “I’m striving to get it out in the fall,” he said, adding that fans can expect a single by late summer or early fall.
