Common Named Presenter At Critics’ Choice Awards, Rapper’s Film Nominated

Common will help ignite the upcoming 14th Annual “Critics’ Choice Awards” as one of the ceremony’s star-studded presenters while the film he acted in, “Wanted,” is up for an award.

According to GoErie, the Chicago-bred emcee will join the likes of actors including Dustin Hoffman, Forest Whitaker, Eva Longoria Parker and more to help present awards honoring a limited selection of 2008 films for their achievement.

In addition to presenting, Common could walk away with another award to his name as his recent film Wanted will compete during the showcase for the “Best Action Movie” honor against stiff competition including summer blockbusters Iron Man, The Dark Knight and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Other films up for awards include Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, which featured Black Eyed and The Secret Life of Bees, which featured actresses Alicia Keys, Queen Latifah and Jennifer Hudson.

“The Critics’ Choice Awards” airs live on Thursday, January 8, 2009 via VH1 at 9 p.m. EST.
