Writing via his Twitter account, Duval also questioned fans’ appreciation for Marie’s legacy.

“@MsTeenaMarie hey are u dead?,” Duval tweeted Sunday (December 26) night.

“I hope teena marie isn’t dead so we can really see how much y’all care & go to her next show. Wit y’all full of sh*t a**es”

“N*ggaz love to pull this out they a** when somebody dies “I just thinking bout them”

“The difference between me and u is I don’t just care for the moment.”

“Hey if y’all care go buy teena Marie music right now so her family can still eat off the legacy she left for us.”

“Let’s make this shit trend #unfollowlilduval it’ll make u feel so much better”

“when u hear about someone dying what’s the 1st thing u do? call or hit up the source right? But I’m ignorant” (Lil Duval’s Twitter)

The initial tweet reportedly upset a slew of Twitter users who attacked Duval’s remarks.

The tweet sent many into an uproar with some followers even wishing death upon Duval himself: “I HOPE U DIEWITH YO BROKETRIFFLIN A**U F*CKING LOOSE MONKEY IWILL FIND U B*TCH IHOPE U GET F*CKED IN YO BOOTY WIT N AIDS D*CKB*TCH [sic],” tweeted @LADyTRNA. But how wrong is Duval really? If so many view Twitter as purely unfiltered entertainment, is a self-proclaimed ignorant entertainer corrupt for tweeting in the same manner he usually does? Perhaps the answer’s yes. (VIBE)
