According to Kid, the LAPD mistakenly arrested him due to paperwork errors.

Christopher “Kid” Reid was released from jail moments ago — and according to the rapper, he’s the victim of messy paperwork at the LAPD, telling TMZ … while sporting a big grin … his arrest today was merely a huge “clerical error.” But despite the alleged mix-up, Kid had no hard feelings on his way out of jail — telling us, “I love L.A. Peace to the Po-Po.” (TMZ)

Reports of his arrest emerged online Tuesday evening.

Half of the former rap duo Kid ‘n Play was arrested at his Los Angeles home today on a warrant charging him with driving under the influence of alcohol or a drug, police said. The warrant and additional details were also unveiled last night.

Patricia Kelly, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Superior Court, said that a warrant for the 47-year-old’s arrest was issued on August 2 after he skipped out on a July 25 hearing to prove completion of his probation requirements. He is currently still in custody with his bail set at $26,000. TMZ, who was first to report the arrest, noted that he was “very cooperative” with the cops. Kid is most known for his hip-hop contributions through the 1980’s and early 1990’s.

Along with Christopher “Play” Martin, Reid delivered a positive, feel-good brand of hip-hop in the late 1980s until the gangsta rap era arrived. The group’s last album, “Face the Nation,” was released in 1991. They are perhaps best known for transitioning their act to the big (“House Party” films) and small (Saturday morning cartoons) screens. (Billboard)
