Chris Brown Says Protect Ya Neck, “Be More Selfish”

R&B star Chris Brown recently talked about his take on the music industry and why after trials and tribulations he realizes you have to go for self these days.

Looking back at his six-year career, Brown revealed what advice he would have given a younger version of himself.

When asked what he would say to his younger self, Chris waits a good 30 seconds before answering. “This kind of sounds bad, but initially, be more selfish,” he says. “When I first came into the industry, I was more open. I thought everybody was my friend, and it was like Wonderland. I was in the industry without a care, because it’s so fun, and there’s money and everything. But you need to protect yourself.” (Page Six Magazine)

Earlier this week, Brown opened up about feeling shutout of the industry after his publicized 2009 domestic dispute with ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

Chris Brown’s road to redemption after beating ex-girlfriend Rihanna has been lonely. The singer comes clean about being blackballed by fans and industry peers in an interview with Page Six Magazine, out Thursday. “A handful of people stuck by me,” Brown said, including fellow artists Pitbull and Pharrell Williams of N.E.R.D. “But when [most] people see certain things happen to somebody, they usually turn away. They don’t want to get involved with it because they don’t want their name attached to anything negative.” Brown, who explained his new album, “F.A.M.E.,” stands for ‘Forgiving All My Enemies,’ is starting to feel welcome again. “They wanna get on the record. They wanna let me back in the door. The last two years, everybody dissed me. But my fans were so dedicated. The way I look at it is, you can’t walk around mad, because then you just prove everybody right that you’re an angry person.” (New York Post)

In late 2009, Brown accused music retailers of blackballing his Graffiti album.

“JUST WAS AT WALMART IN wallingford CT,844 north colony.. the didnt even have my album in the back… not on shelves, saw for myself,” he wrote Saturday (December 12) night. “we talked to the managers and the didnt even know anything. wow!!! but they had alicia keys album ready for release for this tuesday comin. the manager told me that when there are new releases its mandatory to put em on the shelves.. BUT NO SIGN OF #GRAFFITI. BS no disprespect to alicia at all.. just givin an example to whos album is loaded and ready to go next week.” (Chris Brown’s Twitter)

Over the weekend, Brown made headlines after a leaked nude photo hit the Internet.

Chris Brown leaked photos are nothing new. But in this case, the Chris Brown leaked photos are in a far different context. Once again, a celebrity has taken a nude picture of himself and wrongfully thought that it would stay private. In this case, an ex-girlfriend found the image and posted it on the Internet. It was posted as part of a video, hosted by World Star Uncut. The photos are recent since they show him with his new dyed blonde hair. He is posing naked in the bathroom, likely as part of a “sexting” session. However, one of his ex-girlfriends took the image and exposed him to the online world. (Associated Content)
