R&B singer Chris Brown reportedly had his probation revoked in court this week following a recent misdemeanor hit-and-run charge in California.
Details of the singer’s latest woes with the legal system bubbled online Monday (July 15).
A judge revoked Chris Brown’s probation on Monday after reviewing the details of hit-and-run charges the singer is facing. However, the singer was not ordered to jail. Brown, who came to court with a group of family members, appeared downcast as he sat with his arms across his chest and his head down on the counsel table while his lawyer and a prosecutor went to the judge’s chambers to discuss the case. Despite the seriousness, Brown remains a free man until a future court hearing.
Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, suggested that perhaps the matter will be resolved informally without a major probation hearing. He said the hit-and-run case would be back in court in Van Nuys on July 23. Deputy District Attorney Mary Murray did not ask for Brown to be jailed, and the judge allowed him to remain free on his own recognizance. Another hearing is set for Aug. 16. (CBS News)
The probabtion dates back to his now-infamous domestic violence case involving ex-girlfriend Rihanna.
Brown has been on felony probation in the 2009 beating of former girlfriend Rihanna. He has been in and out of court since then making reports on fulfilling the requirements of his probation. On May 12, Brown allegedly rear-ended a car in the San Fernando Valley and refused to give the other driver his insurance information. A woman in the car with Brown provided her driver’s license, according to a police report, but Brown did not provide his until his lawyer had it delivered to the other driver two days later. Last month, Brown’s alleged hit-and-run victim spoke out on the incident.
Olga says (in broken English) that she was practically scared to death of Brown because he was driving a huge SUV at the time of the accident, and was covered in tattoos. According to Olga, he was also very angry and cursed at her, calling her a “bitch” … so the whole experience was emotionally traumatic. As for the transfer of information, Olga says the only thing she got from Brown was expired Lamborghini insurance (he was driving a Range Rover) … despite Brown’s lawyer claiming the singer also gave her his Virginia license. As for a lawsuit, Olga says she doesn’t plan to file one … then again, something might have been lost in translation. (TMZ)
