R&B singer Chris Brown, Janet Jackson, Nicki Minaj, Meek Mill and many more high-profile celebrities invaded last night’s BET Awards 2015 awards ceremony.
Hosted by movie stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, rap star Kendrick Lamar ignited the event.
The show Sunday brought a mix of funny and serious moments. Rapping on top of a police car with a large American flag waving behind him, hip-hop prince Kendrick Lamar kicked off the BET Awards with a dose of seriousness, but also brought a fiery energy thanks to his charisma and his song’s beat. R&B veteran Janet Jackson received the “Ultimate Icon” award last night (June 28).
“It’s been a very long moment to this journey … my heart is so full,” Jackson said to the audience, which included her mother and father. “To my beautiful mother, to my beautiful father, and to my entire family, your love is unbreakable.” An impressive Ciara, Jason Derulo and Tinashe paid tribute to the 49-year-old veteran by mimicking her signature dance moves. Fox’s “Empire” cast also came through for the must-see awards show.
Jussie Smollett (Jamal), Yazz The Greatest (Hakeem), and Serayah (Tiana) take the stage to perform a medley of Empire songs at the 2015 BET Awards on Sunday (June 28) at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The group collectively sang “No Apologies,” “You’re So Beautiful,” and “Drip Drop” for the screaming crowd! Terrence Howard was also in attendance at the show and watched on. (Just Jared)
Young Money’s Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill also sparked attention at the showcase.
The crowd was pumped as Nicki Minaj, 32, and Chris Brown, 26, joined Meek Mill, 28, on stage to perform their new hit “All Eyes On You” at the BET Awards on June 26 in LA at the Staples Center. The on-stage chemistry between Meek and Nicki gave us serious #relationshipgoal vibes! (Hollywood Life)
Music mogul Diddy experienced an awkward moment during a publicized Bad Boy Records reunion.
The hip hop star briefly dropped out of sight as he walked towards the back of the stage, dropping into a hole that was used by Lil’ Kim to make her entrance. He soon recovers, with fans offering a helping hand. The mishap happened as Lil’ Kim, Mase, Faith Evans, 112 and the Lox joined Diddy to perform a medley of past hits. A video montage of rap king Notorious BIG played in the background as his verse from Mo Money Mo Problems played. (The Guardian)
