Embattled singer Chris Brown stirred up some controversy Tuesday (March 22) morning after experiencing an explosive meltdown following a "Good Morning America" broadcast in New York City.
The singer’s actions were reportedly sparked by questions relating to ex-girlfriend/singer Rihanna.
Chris Brown exploded in rage behind the scenes at “Good Morning America” this morning … smashing a window and storming out without a shirt … sources tell TMZ … and it was triggered by on-air questions about the Rihanna incident. ABC sources tell TMZ … Brown performed and was interviewed by Robin Roberts live from the Times Square studio when she began asking about the infamous incident. Brown tried to redirect the questions to focus on his album — but Roberts continued to ask about Brown’s legal issues stemming from the Rihanna incident. (TMZ)
Additional details on Brown’s post-interview actions have also been revealed.
ABC security said Brown smashed the window with a chair, TMZ reported. By the time security came into the room, TMZ said Brown had already ripped off his shirt and left the building, blowing off another performance he was supposed to do for the network’s website. On the way out of the building, TMZ reported that Brown “confronted a segment producer, got in his face and stared him down.” (New York Post)
Prior to deleting his tweets, Brown addressed his reaction.
A short time after his exit, Brown took to his Twitter account to express his displeasure over the interview and thank his fans for their continued support. “I’m so over people bringing this past sh-t up!!!” he tweeted. “Yet we praise Charlie sheen and other celebs for there [sic] bullsh-t!” (New York Daily News)
In February, Rihanna approved Brown’s request to have a restraining order modified.
Rihanna apparently has a lot of forgiveness in her heart. Almost exactly two years after the horrific Grammy night assault on her by Chris Brown, the singer has agreed to allow the restraining order keeping him away from her to be softened, her lawyer, Donald Etra, tells E! News. While Rihanna has requested that the order be dropped to a level one–meaning that they can have contact as long as Brown doesn’t annoy, molest or harass her–and Brown attorney Mark Geragos has been informed of her approval, Geragos still needs to go to court to have the order officially modified by a judge.
