Grammy-winning singer Chris Brown has broken his silence on his highly publicized domestic dispute with Rihanna, which took place earlier this year.
The singer recorded a video updating fans on his new projects while offering a plea for understanding.
“I don’t do all this talking on the thing, it’s just some new stuff I’m doing,” Brown said. “I just wanna say ‘What up’ ’cause I ain’t been out there in a minute, but new album gonna be coming soon, we working on it right now. It’s called Graffiti, it’s got everything on it. Y’all be ready for that. I’m about to drop a single this summer for y’all, so you know, we ain’t going no where. Everybody’s that’s haters, they just been hating. All my real fans, I love y’all. I ain’t a monster.” (Justin TV)
In addition to his court appearance tomorrow, the singer is also heading back to the movie screen.
Brown is making a leap to the big screen. The embattled R&B star – who will face the music in an L.A. court Thursday for his alleged assault on Rihanna – has an untitled project that’s said to be a “tearjerker,” according to a pal. “Chris plays a homeless character,” says the friend. “It’s a real rags-to-riches story and should be good for his image.” Brown will film for three weeks over the summer in both L.A. and Memphis. Despite the negative heat Brown has taken on his alleged assault, he has received support from rap stars like The Game.
“I think it’s a sad situation,” Game said. “I think the point that everybody’s missing is that they both kids, man. What we thinking was some major domestic violence was probably just a little cat and puppy fight between people that used to be teenagers just like yesterday, man. Rihanna can’t be no older than 20 and Chris Brown I know is about 20 years old…People making it out to be more than it is like the media always does anyway, man. I say give the kid a break, man. I’m pretty sure they’re gonna end up back together anyway.” (Wild 101.1)
Rap mogul Suge Knight previously offered his support to Brown.
“Chris Brown is a lil’ homie,” Knight said in an on-street interview. “I got more love for Chris Brown than anybody. One of the things Chris Brown did before at the time my daughter was turning 14 years-old, it was her birthday, and they were having a concert. He put her on stage, sang happy birthday, he didn’t have to, showed a lot of respect and I respect him for that. So therefore, I’ma ride with him a thousand percent on whatever it is, period.” (YouTube)
Rihanna has not yet addressed the situation publicly since the alleged attack last February.
