If all goes accordingly, Durk will get his first taste of freedom next week.

Chicago rapper Lil Durk was recently arrested on a weapons charge after being caught by the police with a loaded .40 caliber handgun. This was a second offense, but Fake Shore Drive reports that he will be able to bond out and be a free man this upcoming June 19th. The delay until then accounts for his having to fulfill a prior sentence. Look out for more news on Durk as his release date approaches, and until then, watch the video for “Dis Ain’t What U Want,” his lead single from the upcoming album, Signed To The Streets. If Durk’s release is anything like that of his GBE colleague Chief Keef, we certainly have a lot to look forward to. (Complex)

Last week, Durk’s attorney said another man claimed responsibility for the weapon.

Durk Banks, who is known as Lil Durk, tossed the stolen loaded automatic handgun into the backseat of a parked Hyundai Sonata when he spotted officers in the 7200 block of South Green Street early Wednesday morning, authorities said. But prominent defense attorney Sam Adam Jr. said another man, Clarence January, copped to having the Glock. January, a 20-year-old convicted felon, told police “this is my gun” and that he, not Banks, had the weapon, an affidavit signed by January said. “He [January] tried to tell the officers at the time [that it was his gun] but they took the defendant anyway,” Adam told Cook County Judge Maria Kuriakos Ciesil Thursday. Kuriakos Ciesil said she had to take into consideration the allegations prosecutors presented against Banks as well as his criminal past. The judge ordered Banks, 20, held in lieu of $100,000 bail for unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. (Chicago Sun-Times)

Buzz behind the arrest going down in Chi-Town hit the Internet last week.

A rapper associated with Chief Keef, the teen who’s made news for his music and arrests, was arrested again for a gun violation early Wednesday in the South Side’s Englewood neighborhood. Durk D. Banks, 20, of Melrose Park, was charged with one felony count of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, according to Chicago Police. Durk’s last notable run-in with law enforcement dates back two years ago.

Banks was sent to prison in 2011 after police caught him with a gun with its serial numbers defaced. He was arrested in the 6400 block of South Eggleston Avenue — also in the Englewood neighborhood — and pleaded guilty. He was released on July 27 last year and was scheduled to complete his parole at the end of July, according to state records. (Chicago Tribune)

The rapper is most known for building a buzz around Chief Keef.

Lil Durk has performed with South Side rappers Chief Keef, Lil Reese and other members of the Keef-owned record label Glory Boyz Entertainment. Chief Keef, 17, whose real name is Keith Cozart, was convicted of pointing a gun at a Chicago Police officer and later sentenced to juvenile detention for violating his parole when he shot guns for a video interview for music website Pitchfork.
