Chicago rapper Chief Keef is reportedly set to trade in his winter coat for a pair of sandals by making California his new home.
According to reports, the overnight rap star is expected to kick his feet up in Los Angeles for good this year.
Chief Keef is officially out of rehab, but reports suggest the rapper is “going, going, back, back to Cali” after visiting his daughter in Chicago. The controversial cultural icon recently completed his court mandated rehab stint in Orange County, and plans to return to LA after his February 28th progress hearing. Chief Keef’s new recording studio is in LA, which may be the reason he has decided to make the jump. Keef has already worked with Kanye West on his new project, who lives in LA with Kim Kardashian. In his first interview since entering rehab, Keef recently revealed the hardship of being stuck in a Southern California center.
“It’s like being locked up,” Chief Keef, 18, tells Billboard, in his first interview since he entered rehab. “And when I’m locked up, I don’t want anybody to come see me. I won’t let my family come here. I haven’t seen my 2-year-old daughter.” Keef says he hasn’t even been in the water, just steps away. “The beach is cool, but it’s just water,” he says. “I can’t do salt water — f*cks my eyes up.” (Billboard)
The rap star is due in court on February 28 to learn his fate from a Chicago judge.
The court date looms heavy on his mind, but it does have an added benefit: He’ll finally be home. “I know it’s cold, but I love Chicago. I ain’t going to miss Orange County — I feel like I’m going to die in this motherf*cker.” (Billboard)
In December, Keef had to change up rehab locations in light of the media attention he received.
Chief Keef has been moved from a fancy Malibu rehab facility because the media just can’t get enough of him. Keef’s lawyer tells us the rapper is no longer at Promises … he’s been moved to another rehab facility in Southern California because of the “overwhelming media attention” he was getting in Malibu. We’re told Keef — aka Keith Cozart — still has about 60 days of court-ordered treatment to go … as he deals with his weed issues. Attorney Leah Starkman says since Chief won’t be home for Christmas … home will come to him …. arrangements are being made to fly his family out from Chicago. (TMZ)
