Chicago’s Chief Keef is ready to leave South Dakota behind him. The hip-hop artist recently talked about landing in handcuffs on a drug bust.
Approached by paparazzi this week, Chief acknowledged his headline-generating arrest.
“Never take edibles on a plane leaving South Dakota if you already brought them coming through South Dakota. I shouldn’t have tried to take it back. I shouldn’t have tried to take it all back to the headquarters where it all started [Los Angeles].” (TMZ)
Earlier in the week, Keef bounced back from the arrest with an open Instagram message.
A day prior, buzz developed over Chief Keef landing in handcuffs over a drug charge.
Keith Cozart, who performs under the name Chief Keef, was arrested around 8:30 a.m. after airport security found two THC edibles and four blunts in his carry-on, said Sioux Falls Police spokesman Sam Clemens. The rapper was booked into the Minnehaha County Jail at 9:21 a.m. without bail. Cozart is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia of marijuana and possession of between two ounces and a half-pound of marijuana. (Argus Leader)
The rap star’s camp had almost immediately addressed the headline-generating bust.
Update, June 12 2017, 5:23 p.m: Chief Keef’s management emailed the following statement: “Our lawyers are actively in communication with the court and jail. We are confident that the situation will be handled in a timely fashion and that Keith will be released within the next 24 hours at the latest.” (The FADER)
