Chicago rapper Chief Keef can’t help but fall into police officers’ laps. This week, the hip-hop star reportedly found himself arrested in South Dakota.
According to reports, cops nabbed Keef Monday (June 12) at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport on drug-related charge.
Keith Cozart, who performs under the name Chief Keef, was arrested around 8:30 a.m. after airport security found two THC edibles and four blunts in his carry-on, said Sioux Falls Police spokesman Sam Clemens. The rapper was booked into the Minnehaha County Jail at 9:21 a.m. without bail. Cozart is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia of marijuana and possession of between two ounces and a half-pound of marijuana. (Argus Leader)
The rap star’s camp has already addressed the headline-generating bust.
Update, June 12 2017, 5:23 p.m: Chief Keef’s management emailed the following statement: “Our lawyers are actively in communication with the court and jail. We are confident that the situation will be handled in a timely fashion and that Keith will be released within the next 24 hours at the latest.” (The FADER)
Earlier this spring, reports surfaced about Keef having an active arrest warrant out.
The rapper failed to show up Tuesday to his arraignment on DUI and weed possession charges. The judge immediately issued the warrant. TMZ broke the story … Miami Beach Police pulled over Chief and another vehicle for what appeared to be a weed transfer. Cops say the rapper had bloodshot eyes and dry mouth during the bust. (TMZ)
