Keef avoided time behind bars and paid over $500 to make the case go away.

Chief Keef, whose real name is Keith Cozart, was ordered to pay $531 for his May 27 arrest in Northfield, where he was pulled over after driving twice the posted speed limit, according to the Cook County Circuit Court Clerk’s office. He paid the fine and has no other outstanding debts. He also faced a charge of driving with an unlawful number of passengers for a graduated driver, but that charge was dropped, according to the clerk’s office. A dashboard camera video of the arrest surfaced shortly after, and after an officer tells Cozart that he was driving 110 mph, he is heard responding, “That’s a fast car. That’s why I bought it.” (Chicago Sun-Times)

In late May, footage from Keef’s arrest landed online.

17-year-old Chief Keef was caught ON TAPE shattering the speed limit in Illinois this week — allegedly doing 110mph in a 55mph zone — and TMZ has dash cam footage of the subsequent police chase … and arrest. The video starts out pretty tame — until out of nowhere, Keef barrels past the idling police cruiser in his BMW X6 M … and the cops peel out after him. It takes roughly two minutes for officers to catch up to Keef and pull him over. As we reported, Keef was eventually arrested for speeding and having too many people in his car (he only has a driving permit). The arrest is also on tape. But the best part — wait ’til you hear the arresting officer’s voice when he finds out Keef’s got $8,000 CASH in his pocket … (TMZ)

Recent reports also claim Keef had thousands of dollars on him and tried to reason with police that he is a paid hip-hop artist.

17-year-old rap sensation Chief Keef had $8,000 in CASH rolled up in his pocket at the time he was arrested for speeding in Illinois this week … this according to the police report obtained by TMZ. Cops say Keef was driving a black BMW SUV at 110 mph when he was pulled over around 3:18 AM on May 27. During the arrest, cops say Keef explained, “I just got back from doing a show in Iowa, I’m a rapper.” Cops proceeded to put Keef in handcuffs and conducted a search. They found a bulge in his front left vest pocket — which turned out to be a “large roll of dollar bills” … $8,000 to be exact. (TMZ)

Coincidentally, Keef addressed his headline-generating buzz and gossip-driven publication TMZ’s coverage of it once the story went viral.

“”@TMZ: Chief Keef ARRESTED for Speeding — 110 MILES PER HOUR! http://tmz.me/1avSUWg “how da F*ck Dey Kno,” he tweeted May 29th with an unhappy face expression. (Chief Keef’s Twitter)

The rapper’s arrest had the Internet in a frenzy a few months ago.

Chicago rapper Chief Keef was charged early Monday with excessive speeding in Northfield — one week after being arrested in Georgia on a marijuana charge. According to Northfield police records, Keef, whose real name is Keith F. Cozart, was stopped on the northbound Edens Expressway (I-94) after being clocked driving 110 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone from Lake Avenue to Tower Road in north suburb, Pioneer Press is reporting.
