From Cham’s perspective, the rap game needs the OutKast frontman.

“One person I really think should come back man is Andre 3000,” Cham told SOHH. “I don’t know if he’s going to but man, the game needs that dude man. For real. Musically, anything, features, I’d be happy with anything. He’ll do one feature every ten years. [laughs] Like d*mn man, he came out with that ‘Walk It Out’ remix and that was ill, he ripped it. And that was it, he kinda fell back again. That’s kinda what a lot of the OG’s are doing, Eminem is the same way. I know what Eminem is capable of, I know he does a lot of that crazy stuff to get people out there, I had a conversation with him, actually, I don’t want to repeat what was said but he said something that was so interesting to me. He made me think about every person in the industry that actually wants to be creative, it’s always that little bit of hesitance. And they don’t want to do it because they’re worried about how people will take it and how it will sell.” (SOHH)

In addition to Andre, Cham said he would love to see new projects from Nas and Mobb Deep.

“I love it when people like that come back,” Cham told SOHH. “I’m not one of them guys that gets upset when they say they’re gonna retire and then come back. Even now I’m seeing stuff from like from Devin the Dude, I don’t know if it’s gonna be super mainstream, but I think stuff like that is needed to balance out the game…People like Andre 3000, Nas even like Mobb Deep or whoever, we want people from that old era that used to put out music, people to be making music…that’s like UGK not coming out with an album, Bun B not coming out with an album, never again…Sometimes with something classic and timeless, you can try to come back and make people happy but the fact is people ain’t gonna be happy. People complain all the time. They want the Hot Boys to be back together, they want the old Jay-Z. They want the whole old Dipset, but the fact is when they all get back together, they are never ever able to create that old feeling that the fans used to love.” (SOHH)

Rap newcomer Drake recently said he was influenced by Nas and Andre 3000 while recording his debut, Thank Me Later.

“It’s gonna be bigger, it’s gonna sound happier,” Drake said comparing it to his So Far Gone album. “Yeah, it’s gonna sound bigger, it’s gonna sound victorious because that’s where I am in my life — I really studied Nas to be honest, Nas was like somebody that I used to listen to his raps and not really understand ‘how’ he did it, I always wanted to understand how he painted those pictures and his bar structure and all of that. I went back and really studied Nas, studied Andre 3000 [for this album] and I hope you like it.” (IM Flashy)

Cham is currently putting together his third solo project, Venom.

Grammy-winning, platinum Houston artist, Chamillionaire, officially hit the road today, embarking on his “In Love With My Money” tour with former group member, Paul Wall – first stop, Austin, Texas for their headlining gig at SXSW. The timing couldn’t be more perfect as the release date for his long-awaited third album, Venom, was officially slated this week for June 22nd on Chamillitary/Universal Republic with a first single, artwork and tracklisting to be forthcoming shortly.
