Philadelphia rapper Tone Trump recently shared his take on the Meek Mill/Cassidy beef and why fans should realize a war of words could turn into more than short-lived entertainment.

Rather than choose sides, Trump said he respects both hometown emcees for shining light on Philly.

“Ni**as love negativy. If Meek Mill and Cassidy was on Twitter shouting each other out and showing each other love, nobody would say nothing about it,” Tone Trump said in an interview. “Because they’re having a disagreement, people try to instigate it and pipe it up. I’m not taking no part of it, I got respect for both of them. For what they are doing and did for the city and opening up lanes and creating opportunities for ni**as like me to get money.” (All Hip Hop)

He also spoke on needing Philly rappers like Meek and Cass to put their differences aside.

“A lot of people on the outside looking in just look at the Philly beef s**t as entertainment, but me being from Philly, I know how real certain rap beefs done got. Ni**as done lost their lives over this s**t. Ni**as in prison over rap beefs from Philly, ni**as who never going to see their kids because of rap beefs. … I think its a step backwards for us, we need to be on some unity s**t and getting money so we can control our market the way the Southern artists [control] their market. Where they don’t even have to leave their market to get a whole bunch of money. I feel like the best way of doing that is to mess with each other and not diss each other.” (All Hip Hop)

Last week, Cass denied his new “Diary of a Hustla” track is aimed at Meek.

“That’s because it wasn’t a diss record,” Cass said when asked why he did not go harder on Meek with “Diary of a Hustla.” “I just put it out a couple hours after we went through that Twitter situation so everybody called it a Meek diss but it wasn’t. It was just a record I just put out to give the streets some bars. If I do a diss record, it’s going to be on the ‘Ether’ level if not worse. It’s gonna be direct, you gonna know it’s a diss record, you gonna know who I’m talking about. That was a little record I threw out there for the streets to keep them fed.” (“The Breakfast Club”)

Prior to the record’s release, Mill went at Cass with a slew of Twitter disses.

“Why n*ggas Tryna pump Cassidy 2 battle I said I wanted him and Mook 2 battle…a battle I wanted 2 c..he gotta get poppin first 2 battle me!,” Meek tweeted.

“You can’t pave the way wit “come 2 my hotel” @CASSIDY_LARSINY”

“And ya swagg corny as sh*t u don’t even represent Philly n*ggas right n*gga! @CASSIDY_LARSINY paced the way!” (Meek Mill’s Twitter)
