Cash Money Records rapper Bow Wow can now add television personality to his growing résumé after getting announced as the new co-host of BET’s “106 & Park” weekday show.
Along with Bow Weezy, three additional entertainers will share hosting duties.
After Terrence J and Rocsi Diaz‘s emotional departure from BET’s 106 & Park, the music countdown show has named rapper/actor Bow Wow the new host alongside Ms. Mykie from Houston, Texas; Paigion and Shorty Da Prince, from Detroit, Michigan. Contestants went through weeks of “The Search” from online video submissions to on-air screen tests. Ms. Mykie, Paigion and Shorty beat out thousands of hopefuls to land the prestigious spots, which has been filled in the past by the likes of AJ Calloway, Free and Big Tigger. (VIBE Vixen)
Bow Wow has already issued a statement on his new gig.
“I am very excited to take on this new journey in my career with BET. I’m all about branding myself and not just in music, but in TV and movies,” said Bow Wow. “Everyone always wants to compare me to the Fresh Prince, well now they can call me the Fresh Prince of 106 & Park. Get ready for a whole new world.” (Statement)
Shortly after the news, former “106 & Park” co-host Terrence J gave his props.
“Congrats to the new hosts of @106andpark – @YMCMB_BW @ShortyDaPrince @MissMykie & @THEREALPAIGION – success, blessings & love!!!,” he tweeted October 1st. (Terrence J’s Twitter)
Cash Money boss Baby also applauded his artist for landing a primetime gig.
Cash Money Records co-founder Bryan “Baby” Williams aka “Birdman” shares his excitement about this new world. “Bow has this in the bag! In addition to being a great rapper, he is a natural personality with great star power and style. His brings a new air to the network and my brother ‘Slim’ and I couldn’t be more proud. This is another great example of YMCMB expanding our presence in the television and film world.” (Herald Online)
