Dipset leader Cam’ron is the latest celebrity to speak out on one-time rap rival Jay Z blowing up headlines last month for his now-infamous elevator dispute with sister-in-law Solange Knowles. #KillaKnows
Despite past issues with Young Hov, Killa said he completely understood the no-win situation.
“Probably about four or five months ago I was in an elevator with Solange. She was mad cool, man. She was stupid cool in the elevator,” Cam said when asked for his reaction to the leaked footage. “I wish we had audio. Son took off. She was really hype though. I’m not gonna lie. I would be honest, man. To be totally honest and be straight up, it’s kind of a no-win situation. Because if he would’ve hit her back, he would’ve been a sucka for hitting her back. Like ‘Aww, he’s hitting women.’ And then, that he don’t hit her back, he’s a sucka for keep getting hit so many times.” (Tim Westwood TV)
Recently, Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA reacted to the headline-generating controversy.
“It’s always somebody in the family that just make your day go different, man. It’s probably one of those days for him. But blessings to their family. To me they’re one of the most beautiful families we have in America. Especially in Hip Hop. It’s a very unique family, him and Beyoncé. And they really represent so much black love for us. But look, we got crazy cousins, crazy sisters, crazy aunts and uncles in our families, man. That happens. And I ain’t saying Solange cause I know her personally. She’s a real good artist herself, but that’s family. So, they’ll figure that out.” (VLAD TV)
Instead of taking the incident serious, Cam’s longtime friend Dame Dash recently laughed off Solange’s elevator punches.
“I was laughing. That sh*t was funny,” Dash said with no hesitancy. “Jay has to worry about perception because corporate people pay him,” the Harlem native said. “I thought what was ironic about it was people got to see how he plays sh*t off, and how something crazy can happen and then four seconds later when it’s cameras on, they act like nothing’s going on. That was interesting to see that and how good he was at it. But then it just kind of exposes it. It’s like how do you trust anything moving forward?” (HHW)
In a statement released to the media, the Carter-Knowles emphasized they were still a tight-knit family despite the fight drama.
“As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.” (Statement)
