Dipset's Cam'ron recently updated fans on the status of an upcoming reunion album and why he won't be caught starring in reality shows like "Love & Hip Hop" any time soon.
Cam said despite eager fans’ requests, the Diplomats are not rushing their LP.
“We working, but you know, everybody’s kind of doing a lot of different things,” Cam explained in an interview with radio host Jenny Boom Boom. “We probably got about seven, eight joints done but, at the end of the day, let’s say the album is twelve, thirteen songs, we’re gonna do twenty-five and pick the best. We’re not just gonna do thirteen. It’s not coming as fast as people may want it, because eveybody’s got their own thing going on — but it’s coming. … [Will I ever been on ‘Love & Hip Hop New York’ again?] Never. Never. [laughs] Nah, nah, nah, you know I’ll make an appearance here and there, my homegirl Mona is the executive producer of the show. But I’d never put my life on TV like that. They’ve been on me for a while trying to get me to do one, even before VH1 was doing reality shows. MTV’s been trying to get me to do it but nah, I can’t put what I do every day on TV. Last month, Dipset’s Jim Jones hinted at possibly having a reality show attached to their upcoming LP.
“Me and Killa [Cam’ron] has been working diligently together and recording and things like that. So, everything is moving not as fast as everybody else would want it to, but it’s moving just on time for us,” Jim said, referencing he and the group’s lead MC Cam’ron. “The Diplomat album is definitely in the works.” There is a single in the pipeline, Jim briefly spoke on the Lil Wayne-assisted “Have You Ever Made Love to a Diplomat,” but didn’t say when fans will be able to hear it. If Jones had his way, the roll-out for the Harlem group’s comeback album will begin with a fall reality show documenting the quartet’s recording process. The program would then lead up to a December release for the LP. It’s all very hypothetical at the moment, Jones said. (MTV)
In 2011, Jimmy spoke on the slow progress surrounding the team’s album.
“Currently in motion, we been working . . . it hasn’t been going as fast as we’d like it to go because everybody got so much business that they’re doing aside from where we left it,” Jones said about the current state of the Diplomats album, before taking to the basketball court of a Downtown Manhattan, NY middle school with his “Jones Family” squad as part of MTV2 and Converse’s Band of Ballers event. “But we definitely been locking in. Shout outs to Cam, shout outs to Juelz, shout outs to Freekey Zekey. Everybody’s on board.” (XXL Mag)
Diplomat Juelz Santana opened up on Dipset’s long-lasting legacy last April.
“Things [are] normal. Everything is good. Me and [Cam’ron] and [Jim Jones] we just did our first show on the West Coast the other day. That sh*t was crazy out there. A good five, ten thousand people out there. They don’t make them like us no more. I’m gonna keep it funky. It’s [the] perfect time for my kind. Took a little hiatus if that’s what you wanna call it, but I ain’t really go nowhere. I always got something out there, whether it’s some verses here or there, I don’t just go nowhere. That’s why they’re always checking for a n*gga. I won’t let you down this time. That’s all I can say. Let’s go.” (Real Talk NY)
