Cash Money Records’ Busta Rhymes recently weighed-in his thoughts on topics like the alleged devil-worshipping secret society The Illuminati and mega rap stars like Jay Z constantly being connected to them.
Busta admitted he has always wondered and even applied power-controlling bodies into his music career.
“I’ve always been intrigued by the concepts, ideas and the possible realities of secret societies, hierarchy governments and people that really pull the strings that you don’t see,” Busta explained. “That’s been a lining in all of my albums, that’s why they’re called The Coming, When Disaster Strikes, E.L.E., Anarchy, etc.” (MTV)
Although he can appreciate the ideas, Busta said witnessing established artists like Jay receive questions on the Illuminati are mind-boggling.
“When you talk about these things and it stirs conversation that’s one thing. But within the last four years, it became mainstream American dialog. When you can listen to Angie Martinez interview Jay Z on Hot 97 and ask if it’s true that he’s a member of the Illuminati…it’s so funny to me to hear that on a radio station of that format, early in the afternoon, being asked to a fellow Brooklynite from Marcy Projects — that has gotten to a level of profound success and accomplishments — if he is an Illuminati member.” (MTV)
Back in March, rapper J. Cole said prior to inking with the Roc he had his doubts about Jigga.
“You know, it’s crazy. Before I got a deal and became apart of the industry, I was one of those people. Like, I wasn’t on it all the time, but I’m a conspiracy theorist. Like, I believed those videos. So there were times where I’d look at a video that’s like, ‘Jay-Z, a member of The Illuminati!’ and I would be like, ‘Ohhhh! Like, yoooo! How is…’ and then you meet him, and you see how things work and you’re like, ‘Nah, man. That’s bogus.’ That’s somebody who’s so far away from the truth and what’s actually happening, just creating something. They’re probably high. But nah, it’s not true.” (Smoking Section)
Last year, singer The-Dream explained why he does not take the Illuminati theories seriously.
“Pretty funny, ’cause nobody really wants to give you credit for where you at,” Dream said when asked his opinion on Illuminati talks. “It’s a ‘higher’ power and they just happened to give it to the black people, yeah right. Whatever. If there was an Illuminati, they wouldn’t let black people in.” (The LIFE Files TV)
