Busta Rhymes Reacts To His Conglomerate Protégé Blowing Up

With the buzz continuing to build around his Conglomerate protégé Reek Da Villiain, rap veteran Busta Rhymes recently spoke to SOHH about watching the emcee finally blossom into the hip-hop spotlight.

In Busa Busss’ opinion, he simply offered Reek an opportunity and the New York rapper cashed in by dismantling guest verses and heating up the airwaves.

“I definitely feel like a proud dad or a proud big brother,” Busta told SOHH when asked for his reaction to seeing Reek blow up as of late. “I think it’s more like a proud big brother because Reek is an adult and he’s able to make judgement calls on his own. It ain’t like I’ve got to tell him how to do everything. You know what I’m saying? I don’t feel like his father but I definitely feel like his big brother that just provided the right guidance. The dude knows what he’s doing, knows what he wants and he knows how to get it done. I’m very happy to see it all coming together finally.” (SOHH)

Last week, Busta explained why he had to get Reek to bless his “Doin’ It Again” track.

“I only felt it was right to have Reek Da Villiain on this record as well because the people wanted to hear more of him. He’s been around for a long time but when it’s your time, it’s your time. And right now it definitely feels like it’s his time and it definitely feels like it’s J Doe‘s time. I have to make sure I’m accomodating the people with what they want. If they want more of Reek, then they’re going to get more of Reek. So I had to throw him on the record at the last minute and make sure that we continue to feed the streets more of what they’re asking for and more of what they’re looking for. That’s pretty much how the joint came together.” (SOHH Singled Out)

Back in July, their “King Tut” music video premiered online.

Busta Rhymes moves like a boss in the video for “King Tut” featuring Reek Da Villian & J-Doe. The Brooklyn rapper stacks his paper, while scantily-clad women parade around and prepare product in his factory. When a heist goes down, he manages to outsmart the thieves. (Rap-Up)

Over the summer, Reek placed Busta into his SOHH Top 5 Dead or Alive list.

“Busta Rhymes. I have to put Busta in there, too. Kinda like Andre [3000], he has that longevity. He came in the game a while back and still here and he’s been able to morph into whatever stage the game was in. He can do that and still be relevant.” (SOHH Top 5 Dead Or Alive)
