With hip-hop fans still anticipating the upcoming release of Dr. Dre's Detox, SOHH talked to the Doc's former Aftermath Records artist, Busta Rhymes, to get his reaction to the wait.

While impressed by the album’s lead single, “Kush”, Busta promises fans can expect bigger records.

“We always love a Dr. Dre project,” Busta told SOHH about his anticipation for Detox. “We just want it to come out already. [As far as ‘Kush’], I’ve heard better songs on the album, so I’m looking forward to it coming out. The ‘Kush’ record was cool but I know for a fact that he has some records on that album that are unbelievable.” (SOHH)

Last month, Dre released an official music video to accompany the “Kush” single.

Interscope released the accompanying video to Dr. Dre’s latest single, “Kush”, today (Dec. 10) and the clip finds the Doc, alongside featured guests Akon and Snoop Dogg, getting the party started with the flick of a lighter. In the video, Dre, Snoop and Akon are at a nightclub with party-goers that are frozen in place. That is until Dr. Dre takes his lighter to one of the indoor sprinklers and the water wakes the entire crowd up. The best part of the clip? When Dre and Snoop are walking side-by-side down a corridor. Ah, the good ol’ days. (Billboard)

Dre’s “I Need A Doctor” producer Alex Da Kid recently talked to SOHH about the album’s 11-year delay.

“I think a lot of what makes Dr. Dre’s Detox [release so anticipated] is because he’s such a unique producer,” Alex told SOHH. “He doesn’t do things just because he feels like he has to do them. He’s at a point in his career where he can do whatever feels good for him and if he wants to spend 11 years on an album, he can do that…He’s definitely a professor and master at what he does, so I think it’ll definitely live up to the hype. It’s going to mean so much to hip-hop just to get another Dre album, it’s something that we all need. It’s a good reference for where hip-hop is right now. There’s no better person who can tell that story than Dre and that’s a good thing.” (SOHH)

Based on recent published reports, Detox is currently set to hit stores next month.

Not that we believe him or anything, but Dr. Dre announced his long-awaited album Detox is set for a February 2011 release. But, he’s probably lying, and we don’t know why keep going back to him after he makes promises like this and just keeps us waiting. We should probably just go back home and live with our mother while we think things over and try to decide if he’s worth believing this time. Detox will feature guest appearances from Dre’s friends Eminem, the Game, La Roux, and Jay-Z along with Snoop Dogg and Akon, who appeared on the single “Kush,” which will receive an official release on Sunday when it becomes available for download.
