Bun B “Speechless” Over Pusha T’s Underrated Title

After Pusha T awarded Bun B with the title of SOHH Underrated today (January 6), the surviving UGK member shared his reaction with SOHH toward the accolade.

Admitting the co-sign came as a surprise, Bun gracefully accepted Pusha’s compliment.

“Speechless. Such a compliment. I’m humbled. RT @sohhdotcom: @BunBTrillOG Nice co-sign by#PushaT, Bun! ; )http://tinyurl.com/2c3nejm,” Bun tweeted SOHH Thursday (January 6). (Bun B’s Twitter)

Pusha told SOHH Bun’s extensive abilities as an emcee earn him the title of SOHH Underrated.

“The most underrated rapper in rap is tough. I really think the most underrated, in my opinion, would have to be Bun B. I really hate the term “underrated” [because of how it can be interpreted] but to me, Bun B is one of the best guys making records and songs. His skills as an emcee speak for themselves. He’s great at doing everything you can think of, whether it be his raps alone or putting together 16 bars. However you want to look at it, he’s the best and most underrated in my eyes.” (SOHH Underrated)

The rapper also said Bun deserves more attention than he has received as a 20 year rap veteran.

“I feel like if I had to say “underrated”, I don’t know if people always put him on the list as they should. I don’t really know if people think to put Bun B in that list. And even though he may have gotten 5 Microphones [a perfect rating] in The Source Magazine for his last album [Trill O.G.], that’s just one look. That’s a good look having 5 Mics in The Source, but that’s still just one look he has gotten when he deserves a lot more.” (SOHH Underrated)

Outside of co-signs, Bun recently talked about Texas hip-hop moving back into the mainstream spotlight.

“Texas has had incredible moments in the history of hip-hop. But there is a misconception that because we aren’t at the forefront that we aren’t here at all. But we’re still making music, going on tour and getting in front of and connecting with the people…It’s time for Texas to move back to the top and in order for that to happen, someone has to take charge. Since I call myself the Trill OG, the first thing I have to do is round up the troops. That’s what this album is — to show that Texas is back. I’m just taking the lead and bringing everyone else with me.” (Billboard)
