Although a specific date is not yet penciled in, Bow Wow’s LP will drop sometime next year.

While he promised fans he wouldn’t push it back again, Bow Wow’s Cash Money debut Underrated has been moved from December 6 to an unspecified 2012 date. The 24-year-old rapper recently shot a video for lead single “Sweat” with Lil Wayne. Additionally, projects from Monica, Birdman, Nicole Scherzinger, and Taio Cruz won’t hit shelves until the new year, and we’ve heard that albums from Young Money’s Tyga and Lil Twist will also not arrive in time for Christmas. In September, Bow Wow promised December 6th would be the project’s final release date.

“Letter to my fans: What up tho? me working hard as ever on this “Underrated Album”. So how do i say this with out making my fans some what a lil upset.. well i guess i cant right? but naw on the real im happy to announce the last and final release date onUnderrated. New date will be DECEMBER 6TH. Reason being is mixing plus clearances for the records. Typical (Business Sh*t) no biggie. This album is more important to me than anything. For the last 2 years i have been working on this album since the day i signed. Even while working on “Lottery Ticket” and “Madea’s Big Happy Family”. I want this to be perfect not just for myself but for yall as well. No im not tryna build hype i believe the hype will build as we get closer to December and if you ask me the hype is already building.” [sic] (Bow Wow Underrated Blog)

Bow Wow also said he established a pattern of dropping music for retail during the later parts of the year.

“I’ve always been a december 4th qtr artist. Just about all my albums dropped in december so this is nothing to us. Look at it this way, Im trying to perfect something for my fans. When you going into a store and buy my sh*t, i want to make sure its worth your dollar. This is my van gogh my basquiat. Its my art. I now have the time to give yall way more material and videos than before. Because of the distance between now and December, i’ll have one of the biggest album roll outs in my career. I have time to drop 2 singles before my album comes out as well as videos. Even ones off “Greenlight 4” i now can successfully deliver the “Batman” and “Boy or girl” videos prior to my singles off Underrated and album release. Ive worked with everybody yall on this mafuka. My label mate and homie Lil Wayne Chris Brown The Game Snoop Dogg Fabolous Meek Mill Bone Thugs n Harmony plus more… So once again dont be upset look at it like this is for yall, so yall can get what yall been waiting for for so long and thats that new hot “Bowizzle” sh*t.” [sic] (Bow Wow Underrated Blog)

A week prior, the rapper spoke on what motivated him to title his new album Underrated.

“Well it’s how I feel. Me, I look at things and ask questions like ‘What will a XXL cover be like?’ I be seeing the cover with rappers that have never sold records or ever went gold in they entire careers; but have gotten like three covers and I’m looking like how the h*ll?! I sold 12 million albums went on six tours, sold out Madison Square Garden seven times, and how the h*ll I don’t get no XXL cover? Every time I reach out they always got something [to] say on why. Are you basing it off skill? Cause I know some of these n*ggas can’t rap better than me, at the end of the day what are you basing it off? I don’t get that nod like I should get, but we gon’ get it this time even if we got to take it!” (The Urban Daily)

Bow Wow’s last solo album, New Jack City II, dropped in 2009.
