While Boston bombing suspect Dzhokar Tsarnaev remains on the run from a police manhunt, new details have surfaced on his slain brother which suggest he was heavy into hip-hop.
According to reports, Tamerlan Tsarnaev had an e-mail associated with a website called “Real-hiphop.com.”
The older brother who was killed and suspected in the Boston bombings was deep into hip hop, and it appears he belonged to a fan website that touted that genre of music. Tamerlan Tsarnaev has an email associated with the website, “Real-hiphop.com.” The site provides information about hip hop artists and upcoming DVD releases. What’s interesting … hip hop lyrics are notoriously violent and often degrading to women. Tamerlan Tsarnaev has a boxing profile in which he says he doesn’t take his shirt off much because he doesn’t want women to get bad ideas, adding, “I’m very religious.” This statement is significantly more conservative than the hip hop genre. Prior to going on the run from police, younger brother Dzhokar quoted a Jay-Z lyric on his Twitter page this week.
Boston bombing suspect Dzhokar Tsarnaev has tweeted since the Boston Marathon bombings on what friends of his tell CNN is his Twitter account. His tweets included one at 1:43 a.m. Wednesday that said, “I’m a stress free kind of guy.” On Monday at 8:04 p.m. — hours after the bombings — he tweeted a quote from rapper Jay-Z, “Ain’t no love in the heart of the city, stay safe people.” On Tuesday shortly after midnight he tweeted, “There are people that know the truth but stay silent & there are people that speak the truth but we don’t hear them cuz they’re the minority.” (WPTV)
Tamerlan lost his life in a reported shoot-out with police earlier today.
His brother, identified by a law enforcement source as Tamerlan Tsarnaev, died in a shootout with police on early Friday morning. Two federal sources told the Los Angeles Times that the brothers have been in the United States for 10 years. The boys’ uncle, Ruslan Tsarni, told WBZ-TV on Friday morning that they were born in Kyrgyzstan. “It’s crazy, it’s not possible, I can’t believe it,” Tsarni said. He said one of his nephews had called him Thursday in an apparent attempt to reconcile after an estrangement with Tsarni that had been going on for a couple of years. (Los Angeles Times)
Reports claim the brothers had lived in Massachusetts for roughly ten years.
The brothers had been living together on Norfolk Street in Cambridge. An uncle, Ruslan Tsarni of Montgomery Village, Md., told the Associated Press that the men lived together near Boston and have been in the United States for about a decade. They came from the Russian region near Chechnya, which has been plagued by an Islamic insurgency stemming from separatist wars. (USA Today)
